douse not exist (imo). Ppl say that ALIEN PROJECT , INFECTED MUSHROOM, ASTRIX...
are commercial. I don't see why.(?)

Commercial trance is what you hear in Tiesto's sets. Alien Project, Infected Mushroom and Astrix are called commercial very oftenly because they don't try and do something more deep and psychedelic every time, but rather focus on the dancefloor, making an effective but less ideological form of psytrance.

what about the next INFECTED MUSHROOM album? with the Freestile CD? thats deeper 4me. ASTRIX made 2 Ambient tracks.
Full on is relatively easy to understand.
If there where commercial you could see them on MTV.

Psytrance isn't about being easy to understand. These guys are. That's why they're being called commercial. And 99% of the trance acts made ambient/freestyle tracks, that doesn't make Astrix or Infected Mushroom special.
And if you ask me, X-Dream with Relaxed Vortex made much better ambient than Infected and Astrix ever did.

i think kaz is right. the fact that astrix and infected do ambient tracks still doesnt mean they are not doing commercial trance.
and when u say "commercial" u mean names like alien project, gms, yahel and infected and so on.
why? cuzz its for the majority of ppl that listen to trance.
if u compare haldolium and yahel there is no need to guess who sell more
and whos music is more not the regular trance tracks.

I believe that Infected MushroOm (for exemple !!!!) is kind of "commercial" because that party-goers who usually DON'T listen to PsyTrance have at least listened to one of their track. On General "Techno" french-speaking 'chats' some techno listeners know them, but nobody else in PsyTrance.
This (for me) does not affect their style, music, that IN ANY WAY I don't like very much, except a few tracks. (Like Electro Panic with Yahel  )
And if they have fun, it's OK for me  I just hope that they don't make tracks on $ purpose...

KakoOlalaJwal, u stole my words, But there's no place for the "Commercial" tag just yet (IMO), this genre and bands are too young, and do have pleanty of time to evolve. Let them.

i think too that it isn t already commercial in this case, but it s much more than 5 years ago...
i think that house has influenced goa/psy is one of the matter that it s more indoor/clubbish=more commercial.

Just GMS, Alien Project and others are more popular. ok thats fine they sell more but I do not believe that this influences their work, they still have fan!
I have seen GMS live, he did not appear and so much commercial. |

When i go outside and ask anybody on the street about Psy-Trance or some Progressive stuff... thy look at me like i'am a Alien.
So and you wanna talk about comercial...
4 me, comercial is some thing i haer daily in the radio, and not this sound i like so much...
So, and the most thing in the live is comercial! And when i make Music, so, of course, i like the sell it... thats comercial, sure... |

Tom: in Israel they sell psytrance in every record shop. Most people who sell CDs at least have some very basic knowledge about it.
Artists that release music don't always do it for the money - I believe that at least 50% of the artists in the trance world are trying to express themselves rather than think of cash, but there are a few which are obviously attempting to make their music "more communicative", which is just another name for "less authentic" and "commercial".

i think the best way to explain what commercial is for exmaple:
ppl in isreal that dont listen to trance usually know who are infected. and even if they dont like trance they like infected. infected are no longer trance only they are almost mainstreem. even more than that they did track with one famous singer in isrea. and they put that song in the radio all the time.
and sure every artist wants to make some money we all live with money not with bananas but there are artist that do music in intention to sell and some that do it first of all for themselfs. (i hope so anyway.. )
