Antix did a killer live the last I saw them in BC.. works magic on the "people"......immaculately produced and textured progressive trance.

Massively looking forward to dancing under the stars!

Well, I am about the perfect example. I've been heavily involved in electronic music for about 10 years now but when I heard the name MoonTribe it sounded familiar but thats about it. You also gotta think there are alot of people that are new to Colorado so not everyone is going to even know who they are. Do they even release anything these days?

Harddeserttrance and Funkydesertbreaks doesn't ring a bell? Moonshine Music? Maybe i'm too old. :\

Moontribe actually started in California back in the early 90s. They were throwing what are now legendary full moon parties out in the desert outside LA for many years. They took their stuff to Burning Man and blew the roof off many a sound camp at BRC. During their stint in Colorado they were involved in Roofless parties and a bunch of other productions.

oh, and they don't all or always play psytrance - but they're all pretty kick ass DJs. I think Treavor was in charge of psytrance at Beatport for a bit, maybe still is.

in any case, I am sure there are people here who have actually BEEN to the original Moontribe parties in Cali which can fill you in some more.

          ..it's just another party..

Thank you, DMTree, for the public explanation, worded well.
Yeah I agree, by placing the genres it may induce the wrong flow. Don't anyone worry however...the music, as everyone will see, is not entirely what is getting sold here...the environment and community are. We're aiming to create an experience, not simply get people to come hear some DJs. Way more thought is going into building an engine powering us into an alternate universe.

oops....I apologize for my disorganized post above...didn't quote DMTree properly, and it's kind of confusing.

Ya I defiently have old Moonshine records. : D

Well just thinking about it Moontribe were also throwing parties in Arizona. I lived there for about 3 and half years and I do remember attending a few desert parties. I know John Kelley played alot in Arizona.

I'm familiar with the roofless parties. They were ok. I dont remember having any sort of moving experience lol

I agree with you A. Creating an environment and establishing a spiritual community in relation to the music is key. For me and I am sure alot of people will agree that music is my religion. Therefore the experience should be sacred and practiced in such a manner.

Yeah John Kelley was a member for a long time, not really so much anymore...kinda gone his own route.
I know he still plays with them from time to time at the Mor Bar in Santa Monica for $2 Tuesdays, but much more lounge/bar house instead of the usual open air sound.           <~/ALEXANDER\~>

Trust me, I'm not playin Old School Hip Hop by choice. Schmid E recommended me for Psytance and Old School Hip Hop, and the organizers asked me to play Old school, and be a back up for Psytrance. They said the lineup was full for Psy, but bring my music.
I'll still try to talk them in to lettin me play Psy when I get there. But I guess they wanted Hip Hop at the start. Better me than someone who will play some new wack shit! At least now it will be 2PAC, Biggie, DMX, Snoop, Dre, that kind of stuff.           AUDIO VIRUS

hip hop confuses and scares me

but yeah i was just givin ya shit, it's just weird seeing a psy dj on the psy forums playing on a mostly psy stage at a burner event and their booked for hip hop of all things.

i'm sure the bass will be nice though.
just cut out the vocals please.
(so i can rap)

catch ya in a day or two.

I think tupac could actually be quite poetic and thoughtful in his lyrics, at times.. i think that beneath the image and ego, he was also a very talented artist. it is a shame things turned out the way they did, but karma can be a real bitch...

not that i am a fan of breaking the "program" of a psy party but it could be a fun way to digress to the beginnings of electronic drum sequencing and looping by visiting old school hip hop. good luck!
