First of all .... there is no extra charge if you want to have a cd with 79 minutes.

Like many already have said .... records are not about amount of tracks or more or less music. If you consider between two different compilations because of the difference in length something really bad is happening in the trance scene .... the trance music needs a big fucking development. The records should be so unique so if you like it you don't care about 15 minutes more or less (A really good cd will anyway come back to the cd player for a long time).

I have to agree that when you're making a compilation you should try hard to let the buyer get as much good music as possible ... when I'm compiling a records and have ten minutes left I search for the last track until I've found it.

I also think that this is the same for an artist album .... if you have made 8 tracks and have ten minutes left on the cd you should sit down listen to the tracks that you already have ... try to feel what the records should need to be even more fullfilled ... if the label are pushing you you have to say STOP ... this is about a very sepcial thing ... your album, something that you should be proud of for a long time!

Take care

You all got me wrong! I'm not talking that you should put more just to have more, I'm talking that you should put more good stuff!

have u ever thought about the fact that 8-9 trax don't always fit into 74 minutes? U rightous people try to compile your own best CD and make it exactly 74 minutes - u will either have to settle for different trax than your fav's, or you will end up with less CD time (guaranteed).

cummon - do u really expect the artist/DJ to sit with a stopper and calculate exactly the trax time? Do u think I could tell Tomer or GuyShanti that I need a track which is exactly 8.27 minutes long just because it's the needed time?

if u feel u don't wanna buy a CD because of 5-7 minutes, then don't buy it - the loss is all yours. No artist will extend/shorten his work just because he's got a time limit, just as you cannot press an artist in deadlines, otherwize you will get a crappy result (and I could give you some examples of that)

peace

But when you have 15 minutes extra on a cd? Instead of putting that track on a compilation (which will give less money to the other artists) put it on your album! I'm sure you can fit it in the "story" of the track.
