Sure it's bad for your CD's with heat, especially if combined with moisture.
Keep em dry, dark and cool if you like them to last long.

Basically don't leave your beloved pet's, kids or CD's in the car when it's hot.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

i found lots of information on cds that have been "warped" due to heat, but i saw no information on what tempature they begin to get damaged. does anyone know how hot it has to be before cds start to get damaged? when i get this info, ill watch the weather report to determin if i can leave them in the car.           The IsraTrance MySpace Group:

Storage
1. DO store discs in their storage cases to avoid scratches.
2. DO store discs in a cool, dry place, away from direct light. The ideal storage temperature is between 23° F - 86° F.
3. DO NOT leave the disc in direct sunlight or in a hot, humid environment.
4. DO NOT spill liquids or allow moisture to condense on the disc

86 º F = 30 º C

CD's are different and some will last well despite mistreatment while others wont.
Humidity level is very important factor as well to bring in to the equation, even more so than heat what I have understood.
Thats probably why many CD's I brought to Goa screwed up quite fast...hot and humid climate.

I think it has to be quite hot indeed for them to physically deform from being left for a few hours in a car, but if you store them hot for extended periods you will reduce their life time.
So unless it's extremly hot there is no worries about them instantly die on you, but to permanently store them in a car in the summer is not a good idea if you are concerned with their longlivety.

And caselogic will AFAIK not protect the CD's from heat, but good quality cases will reduce the risk of scratching.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

I used all my unwanted CDs as a light-reflector array made to blind drivers near crowded schools as to solve the overcrowded classroom problem. None left, sorry.

You are right, but those are not MP3's and you can clearly hear that.

I don't agree with here my friend, this slightly off topic but thats the problem with some listeners, how can you listen to an album or v/a twice and then move to something else ? to get back to it OK, but to destroy it and move to something else ! .....

It's not like we are making easy listening music here ! you need time to dive into the music, to explore in between the sound scapes while you are riding the atmosphers etc etc etc ...

with this music ? .. hell no ! . no way you can buy an album or v/a lisiten to it twice and then you know whats in it impossible !

to get back on topic here in Malta no way you can leave cds in car will simply distroy them, also where there is a high magnetic field like speakers etc will desrtoy them
