thanks for link anteater, i will make some comments soon abt it. It was very interesting and a surprising read, i used to read guardian a lot for my sociology course at A-levels One thing made me laughed though,

At Access All Areas, an information network in Camden that promotes the music, customers were last week discussing mushroom experiences. 'I just closed my eyes, but I could see a sheep,' says one young man.

> 'I just closed my eyes, but I could see a sheep,'

That's because reality and space-time are constructed entirely from sheep - it takes a dose of mushrooms to fully appreciate this basic fact.

'It's turtles all the way down'. Wrong! Sheep.

have to say, part of me thinks we`ve been here before, back in the early/mid nineties...
then - the acedemy was full of just trance and ambient - no acid techno. Reports on channel 4 news - and Paul oakenfield recording the Goa special for Radio 1.

Its good for all if its more coverage, but one has to remember that - all the time the trance scene thinks all the other underground dance music has it better than us. I beg to differ...

The scene is healthy and like everything else in life will have its own little rollercoaster ride. The artists are doing pretty well for themselves really - in a non-commercial scene.

One will have to wait and see what happens over the next two years really to see the result of whether there is an upsurgence in populartity. but of course when it all dies down, those faithfull will still be there!!!!...

I believe he is tryin to compete with known clubnights like godskitchen , and as for that article ... it doesnt speak the truth , it's too far fetched imo ..and lets be honest . Not as if acts we all know and recognised have been asked to play at this years creamfields or godskitchenglobal gathering or at colourfest festivals and without a doubt the biggest problem wth psytrance it's mainly cd based , yes there is still labels that do vynil , but for those wantin to obtain psytrance on vynil , cos they can't afford cd dexs only to find that there local recs shops dont sell such material , .. and i for one cannot buy psy trance in my local record shops..... a shop will only sell whats popular and sellable .... , can u imagine judge jules playin psy on his radio show ???, armin , tiesto , corsten playin psy trance in there sets or complete psy sets ..... they wont and never will ... cos there too set in there ways .. playin what the masses like them for . comical trance !!!!
He's tryin his hardest to get it mainstream imo , with the articles in mixmag, observer and possibly dj mag . the day i see recs sell material by known artists then we will all know the scene has changed .

as there is the danger of poor imatation material gettin churned out just liked what happend to the goa scene

Is this Glade festival a sign that its going to start getting easier to do more outdoor events in the UK? Wasnt there some wierd rule a couple of years ago, which made outdoor electronic events almost impossible?

Is glade a turning point? or just a quota?

Wasn't a weird rule it was more like a weird law! but as we know at least one of the previous ones when challenged was decided by the courts that the law was an infrigemnt of our right under the European Law on Human Rights i.e. gathering at Solstice at Stonehenge = freedom of assembly
..... ok so no amplified music but a proven right of assembly!! and therin lays a start

Does that mean that they can turn the music off but not send you home? Still a bit grim really.

back on topic....I think shrom has a point. We, as a scene, have never had it so good. If you want grass roots go to transylvania where the djs all fly there thwemselves and where the people are only there to stomp. If you want big production go to the big Israeli or german festivals. If you want to get trashed indoors for 3 days try a london squat or if you just want to hang out with other like minded folk the options are many.

So thats nice.

Meanwhile back in babylon there is some more surprises coming in terms of crossover and it looks like the future is now/the revolution will not be televised/etc.

i dunno what all the fuss is about.

I agree that psygate are well...just putting on the same old acts to pull in the cash. HOWEVER, evryone's worried about whats going to happen, well if you want underground, go to a free party. plenty of rigs out there at the moment are fighting the good fight.

now i'm not saying all london/indoor parties are commercial, but the folks whining on about how it's all too commercial are normally those that spend the big bucks to get into the big parties.

i think i see a pattern forming...
