IMHO actually southern europeans are black (spanish, greek, italians & so)
but this is totally since I was talking about blacks with african roots..
..and black people can definetly dance..

i think that possibly this thread itself explains why not many black people are into psytrance...
not sure whether to laugh or get annoyed!

most black people i know dont take psychedelics and trance is pretty different than the most black music although here in us all the big electro dj are black house and techno too so maybe its just the style of party might be to hippie for them |

My friend Kebba is half ghanian and hes well into all forms of trance and performs as PROPULSION (used to play at Samsara a lot and now plays a lot at Planet Zogg). He's often wondered exactly the same question...
Strangely enough the most white crowd I've ever seen at a party was Solipse in Zambia - make of thatw hat you will.. and yes.. Solipt1c - there are some pretty dodgy answers on this thread... |

OK, first of all... for every throbbing trance track there's a banging Detroit techno track. Neither style is "funky" except in a post funk, industrial kinda way. Most psy these days is banging techno anyway...
It is true that electronic music (outside of house/Detroit techno) is mostly white male dominated. But I've seen mixed race trance acts; and don't forget Ian St. Paul, cofounder of TIP records. (isn't Domino a black woman? or am I getting mixed up?)
Historically blacks weren't much involved in the hippie traveller culture, for the same reason whites weren't much involved in race activism. You have to remember the LSD culture in the sixties overlapped with civil rights and other more pressing concerns for black people. It's the privileged kids who got to "trip out" and become trustifarians (or make techno, I should add).
I kinda agree with Solipt1c... it's not the sort of thing that gets asked in North American culture. Most young people today are pretty colorblind. But it was asked here, so I think it's worth addressing...

yet there are a lot of blacks in the techno scene, the drum & bass scene, and the house scene. and there are a lot of psychedelics in there..
maybe they just see the psy scene as a white thing...? full of ignorant white folk? |

I think it's a cultural-geographical thing.
Black people are not so different than white people therefore there is no other reason for them not to like psytrance, statistically. |

Indeed... and this is really sad.. Once again an illustration of the cowardice induced by Ignorance..
HipHop is definitely not about "Yeah muthafucka" ... (I mean the "true" one of course... things like Eminem are not hipHop I'm sorry..)
