Bizzare Contact - Plastic Fantastic (Com.pact, Apr 2004)

1. Bizzare Contact - Love Simulation 144bpm 8:06
2. Bizzare Contact & Nameless- Run Away 146bpm 8:10
3. Bizzare Contact - Drop It 145bpm 8:20
4. Bizzare Contact - Horizon 142bpm 8:15
5. Bizzare Contact - Plastic Fantastic 145bpm 8:29
6. Bizzare Contact & Optyvision- Twisted 145bpm 7:02
7. Bizzare Contact - Can't Stop 145bpm 7:57
8. Bizzare Contact & Nameless - RT Shock 143bpm 7:44
9. Bizzare Contact - Creative World 144bpm 9:08

Bizzare Contact are Kfir Lankry and Didy Ezra, a young project from Dimona in southern Israel. After releasing some tracks in various compilation and being credited as one of the biggest new name in full on, their first album is released on Com.Pact Records. The first thing you notice about this album is the original cover art, very hilarious! Let's talk about the music now.

Track 1 is Love Simulation which was also released on an Utopia Compilation. Nice groove and great percussions, very positive and happy track. The melodies in it are very energetic and uplifting. Run Away comes next, but I see no reason to run away. This one was made together with Nameless (Oren Azulay). This track has one dominant melody all over the track. Some may call it clubby, cheesy, nitzhonotish, but it does one thing - makes you fly. Isn't this what trance music is about? Drop It (T3) starts a bit weak but halfway through the track is becomes something of great emotional value, well done. Horizon is number 4 on this album, getting a bit slower now. Somewhat goa like in atmosphere, I see nothing special in this track. Sounds too much like stuff I've heard before. Plastic Fantastic is the title track of this album, and another favorite. Again - uplifting track, very positive in emotions. Optyvision (Dudu Zohar) joins the Bizzare duo for the 6th track - Twisted. As the name suggests, this track is quite twisted. It is also highly psychedelic, compared to the rest of the album. Great sound effects all around. Can't Stop (T7) is a welcome change in style. Going to the more electric side, sort of 80's sound. Good track, but there are better here. RT Shock is the second collaboration with Nameless on this album. May sound a bit darker, but this one holds great powerful sounds in it. Closing the album is a track called Creative World. Nothing special here, the usual nice groove and melodies.

Recommendation: Don't let the name and style fool you. This album has great moments, and is sure to put a smile on every sad man listening to it. Makes me curious about the other names involved here - Nameless and Optyvision. Anyway, this is a well produced album - music, sound (mastered by Lior Perlmutter), design. Good job to Com.Pact on this one. Could have had more album feel in it - different styles, story throughout the album, but still - this one is worth the money.
My Favorites: 1(!), 2(!), 3, 5, 6, 8.

Kfir Lankry & Didi Ezra both 19 years old, are Bizzare Contact & deliver us 9 fresh, sunny & happy full on tracks.

First remark, the ability of the guys cooking someting that don’t look like from one to another in their build up, with catching melodies.

Second would be a well established sound territory with personnal leads & a quite large use of sounds. There’s only one link to all these 9 productions, an expressive happy party feeling mixed with some kinda outdoor atmosphere. Indeed, something that can make you say about an unknown track ‘hey it’s Bizarre Contact alike’

Third is about the overall high quality level encountered through the whole album.

So now just short words through tracks :

Love Simulation got a brisk melody untill 3’45 break, time of deep women voices constrating with bouncing sharpy siren new melodic lead, a shrill sound that automatically wake up your eardrums & the rest by the way.

Run Away starts direct with this main lead attraction & will come back later on for the peaktime of the track after the 3 ’50 break. This lead is strange half made scary & other half happy sounding then evolves weirder with huge hacked fx on it.

Drop it is one of those typical production that i call ‘diesel’, long very long put into orbit. Around 2’20 you will get into a more mysterious soundind part of the track up to the ‘ladies & gentleman’ samples where appears soft slight sour tones. Second ‘ladies & gentleman’, new changing atmosphere : mischievous lead melody is associated with a funny gimmick in the background.

Horizon is the boisterous, stomper tune of the album, a bit old goa flavoured according to me in a Oforia spirit (Maximiser, Visitors, Solar), big nice focus on power stuff here.

Plastic fantastic has a rolling bassline with a throwing up & down metallic shrill melodic sound confering a punchy start to the tune. There’s a profusion of different sounds all along & many variation, a very thick title. Furthermore the final is pushed by silmutaneous use of 3 distinct leads.

Twisted has very metallic hithat bordeline with saturation, in the background you can check lots of freaky sounds. The bassline changes of tone. There’s a long filtered break around 5’00. The result is rougher to me & bit less happy, i enjoy it less than all the other productions.

‘Stop’ is the sample gimmick of Can’t Stop, there’s a funny shrill scream which could also have resultated from a electronic machine & many others little soft weird industrial tones embellish the background. Then the track bolts in 2 step, first one at 4’20 where the melody gets underlined by several sounds, second one at 6’30 when Bizarre Contact definativly loose control in aid of electronic machines taking power for kicking them outside their studio in order to groove freely on the final part of Can’t Stop; what ungrateful equipement.

Second collaboration with Nameless, for a speed groovy & changing bassline, supported by violin (at 2’40). After 6’00 one of the lead gets extremely shrill & agressive, global result for me a bit under tha average of the album.

Creative World rocks & is fill within by purring filtered sounds congering a highly state of happyness feeling. I can’t explain really why but i imagine people having a spring very outdoor party when i listen to it.

It’ll be very difficult to pick up some highlights from this album as so many tracks are good.
So today, here what i would say, probably another day in another i would say something else :

Highlights by order :4,5,2,9,1,7

8,5/10 recommended for all happy people

they got talent, haven't heard the whole album but there are some very good tracks there

some of the kicks could have been better (the one in plastic fantastic, which is a GREAT track)

and some of the melodies has clubby harmonies (RT Shock)
but overall it's a very very good album and it's not TRSF.

IMO the best track is plastic fantastic.. it has a super groovy bassline... hear it at 4:00!

run away which is considered by many to the best track.. didn't like much the melody, it seems childish to me, RT Shock is much better!           u can find "Anything U Want" using the search...

Bizzare Contact’s debut album is a perfect example of what I would describe as “Neo Full On”. The overall emotion is melodic and distinctly psychedelic, yet maintains progressive dance floor sensibilities. The tracks are well constructed, wonderfully arranged, and perfectly produced. Comparisons will be made as some of the sounds are a bit… influenced, shall we say. Don’t let that put you off it, though, especially if you’re a DJ. Club crowds are going to eat this stuff up. This one will be a hit with fans of neo full on and the progressive Israeli sound.
