<ahem>
I find it totally necessary to go on this public forum and share my thoughts about this awful party.

It was originally supposed to be a whole weekend of dark trance for 75 dollars, something that nearly everyone in the whole trance scene complained to the promoters about. I personally could not promote the party whatsoever cus barely any one i know can afford that. On top of that, Kseniapoleon was planning on not paying any of the so-called "local" artists whatsoever, which to me was starting to spell "money-grubbing trance conspiracy." Despite the far-reaching complaints, she seemed to still have the delusion that 200 people would show up. I have a bit of experience throwing underground parties, so I tried to help and offer my advice on how the budget could be cut down to make the party more affordable for people, but my kindly words were met with harsh aggression regarding my "assumptions" about the budget for this party. (It should be noted that the average person can multiply 200 by 75 in their head without a piece of paper, and even if they've never thrown a party before, they will see that this is a shiteload of money).

Somewhere around "the last minute," also known as "the eleventh hour," it became clear that over half the originally booked artists were flaking out on this one, that the party would only be one day long, and that the price could be lowered to 40 dollars. Still, there had been no real promotion whatsoever regarding this change. If you look at this thread, which was started the day before the party, you'll notice there isn't even a link to directions. Half the people in the trance scene i talked to didn't even know this party was happening.

Meanwhile, I was at home trying to prepare my live set, which included over a year of tracks I had written. I had been spending the past 3-4 weeks remastering and remixing every single one of my tracks, hoping that I could provide a quality live set in the midst of a party i was expecting to be mediocre at best. The night before the party I was literally up til 6:30 in the morning rehearsing, making sure every mix and tweek was perfect.

I arrived around 8 o'clock and the sound still wasn't up-- big surprise. I also noticed that there was pretty much no one there except crew and artists. The production level of the dancefloor area looked like a party meant for hundreds of people (nice deco chris). Finally about 2 hours later, the sound seemed to be working and NeAlika played a really nice early-nighttime dark trance set. But in the middle of the last song the system shat out. Turns out the generator that was rented was faulty.

So then we waited for many many hours while the genny people brought a new 40k gen from bakersfield... during this period i tried to help by being in touch with the truck driver, making sure he could find the spot, getting Valentin woken up so he could go meet him, etc. I thought--- hell, a small party can still be a kick ass one, let's try and get this thing on. It would be such a shame if all the time I had spent assembling this live set and all the time and effort put in by the promoters were completely wasted.

Around 5 am, the music was going again. Yay. There was still no one there except crew and artists and maybe 5 people, but this alone was a good enough crowd for a party. Ksenia started having all her artists play, but didn't seem to have the forethought to perhaps shorten EVERYONES set. Instead, Leo/Jen, Monke-E, Naked Tourist, Jelly, and Dementia all played full 90-120 minute long sets. This ate up a lot of time, and a lot of the artists and DJ's started complaining that they had to leave and they wanted to play. I would also like to mention that barely any one played spectacular sets, in fact it was the middle of the day and everyone was playing super fast night time sets. Come on people, there's 5 people on the dancefloor and its 85 degrees out, play something funky...

Now, in my opinion, when you have a situation like this, you are supposed to have all your LIVE ACTS play first, followed by out of town djs, and then either cut the local DJ's or have them play last. People come to a party to see live acts and out of towners, they see their local dj's play all the time.

Around 1 or 2 in the afternoon, Subzie Walla played a DJ set. I was supposed to be next. He played around 160-170 bpm super glitchcore death chant trance (as i call it), which i thought was a bit peculiar for the middle of the afternoon, but he had his OWN forethought to just play for about an hour and then let me go on. I spent the last half hour of his set meticulously setting up all my live equipment.

Finally, at some ungodly late hour in the afternoon, I got to start playing my music. I went out in front of the speakers to check it out in the beginning, and it actually sounded really nice and clean, I was happy and excited.

Then, about 20 minutes into my set, yes TWENTY, as in half way thru the third song, Kseniapoleon came up to the DJ booth with a big smile and told me my set was over. I didn't understand-- I told her I was already planning on cutting out about 45 minutes of my set any way, but she said no, it's over NOW. I have dealt with so much crap like this from other promoters, but i thought i had done everything right to make sure this wouldn't happen here. Any one who knows me well knows how passionate I am about my music and how utterly insulting it is to me to be told something like that right away. Was my music freaking people out? Were people running into the desert on some awful bad trip? Was it ruining the party or something? No. In fact it was the first thing below 154 since Leo and Jen's set. But nonetheless, I was being told, even after arguing fervently in the booth, that my set was over. So I violently cut the mixer channel and screamed that this party sucks and everyone should go home.

A special note: I have been hanging out with these two people, Kseniapoleon and Jelly, for a couple months now. And one of the main things this guy Jelly talks about is how DJ's are shit and artists are everything. When DJ's play songs it's no big deal, but when someone makes their own music and plays it, it's a big deal, and yr not supposed to phuck with that. I actually argued with him a bit about it, because hell, i like some DJ's, but the reality was that I mostly agreed with him.

And yet here were these two promoters completely insulting me during my set. A twenty minute set. Not even three songs. They had totally duped me into wasting weeks and weeks and weeks of my time preparing for this thing, but in the end i spent more time setting up my gear than actually playing.

I was told that there were many DJ's who wanted to play and they all had to leave. I didn't understand this. How can they play if they have to leave? In fact I left the booth and I believe 2-3 of the DJ's were in fact already packing their cars to leave. Which left just Yordan and Bamba, who are close friends of mine and I know for a fact would never try and conspire against me playing a set. So then Yordan came on, played what sounded like a full hour long set, and then Bamba came on, and played what sounded like a full hour long set. This added to my personal insult, and also showed that these promoters are COMPLETE HYPOCRITES who actually have NO RESPECT FOR ARTISTS IN THIS SCENE MAKING PSY TRANCE!!!!!!!

Therefore I wish to make two main statements:

ONE: KSENIAPOLEON, pls never ever even THINK of throwing a party again. You do not know the first thing about responsible organization and promotion.

TWO: DEAR TRANCE COMMUNITY, do not waste yr time and especially yr MONEY on any party this group ever throws again, I implore you! You will not be a happy customer.
