Haven't been to a Psychedelik Laboratory event, but have had plenty of good times with the Manas crew. Super friendly vibes, great lineup of local djs and live acts, and a bit older, more mature, but still 'wild' people! Guaranteed good times!

Haven't been to Psychedelik Laboratory either. Have you got their website?

Manas are definitely a crazy underground crew, but they don't do club gigs only wild outdoor parties - crazy fuckers!!!

Batta often plays at our (Psy16) club and outdoor parties and Ritsu also helps out with the decorations.

If you wanna check out pics from Manas and Psy16 parties, you can find them here...

Next party: Friday April 1st @ Club M a.k.a. A-Life. Check it out if you're in Tokyo.

Man I dont mean to be rude but A-LIfe is hardly a venue for an underground party if you want real crazy parties they mostly happen outdoors like sickboy said, I dont think a club party in tokyo with flyers etc can be called underground. Ken I am with you I do wish there were good places to make private paties indoors in TOkyo, like an abandoned wearhouse or something, if you find something like this, let me now- I will be there for sure. But either way, underground is a subjective word, who knows who the best underground organizers are.... if everyone know who that was then it wouldnt really be underground anymore, would it?

But I have much respect for all people making parties not for the profit but to communicate to others the very reasons that made them fall in love with the music in the first place. Psychedelic Lab for sure have a nice vision, best wishes for this crew and all others spreading the psychodelia to the world.

And to add my two cents, I dont know if they are the best or anything, but I enjoy going to parties by Breath, Daze Maze, Mess/Nasha, many others who keep a nice intimate atmosphere and are not driven by egos, money, etc etc.

Have a nice day,

Hi Spliffnik,
I totally agree with you that parties belong outside but we gotta do something to keep us warm during Winter - actually I played an outdoor for 04/05 countdown and it was snowing + next week will DJ in Hakuba Ski Resort hehehe.

You obviously not familiar with our crew, we started as a free outdoor party a few years ago in Yoyogi and Odaiba. Although we've done some successful club and outdoor parties, no-one has made a cent out of it. The little money we make goes back to paying for the next free party or to the "underground" artists we support.

If you've been to our parties you know its one of the friendliest around, its like a big twisted family.

I like Daze Maze too! Mario from Daze Maze will DJ with us once again @ Club M a.k.a. A-Life.

OK, you said A-Life is not an underground venue, maybe you're right, its a very nice club. It think the people make the feeling of the party more than the venue - we've been busy painting huge batiks and doing string art sculptures to make more "underground" for you. Please dont think, "oh this is a nice club!" just enjoy the comfortable sofas.

I did 3 nice warehouse parties in Melbourne in 95 / 96 (500 - 2000 ppl). I loved those parties, they gave me the energy to keep organizing. I wish I could find a warehouse in Tokyo to do these type of parties again!

We've got our first free outdoor party on the 26th and start the more organized camp jo parties from the middle of April.

Hey Spliffnik, Rui from the Buddha Family / Chikyuya played at our parties a couple of years ago, I'd like him to play at our next outdoor in April. I saw you on the same bill for the Chikyuya Tsunami Appeal, do you know how I can get in touch with him? Also Spliff, if you wanna play, let me know.

I hope you can make it to A-Life, if not for the underground feel then just to check out the Belly Dancers and my amateur String Art.

Bom!

Ken

p.s. Hey sickboy, you mention Manas and not your own crew... that's very non egotistical of you. Very cool, very "underground".          The music was like new black polished chrome

Ha ha... you're right Ken, just my humble Canadian upbringing I guess(?) ... I can certainly back up your claim that none of us has ever made a single yen off the parties, indoor or out. What we do get is a great time, and an amazing vibe from the people there!! Starting with Ken on down the line, I can say that the Psychedelik 16 crew is in it for the 'right reasons'.

I guess the concept of 'underground' or 'indie' or 'right reasons' is up to each person to decide. Please ome out to one of our parties, and experience it and decide for yourself!!

P.S. Can somebody clear up once and for all this A-Life/Club M name nonsense??? I'm closer to the situation than the average person, and I still can't bloody understand what's going on!! There's a cafe called A-Life up the road (Roppongi-dori), in the Roppongi Hills direction from Nishi-Azabu Crossing. Never been inside... Then there is 'our' club, in the Shibuya direction from Nishi-Azabu, which was called Club M, then A-Life, now Club M again?? Are these two places owned by the same people?? Did somebody not notice that there was an establishment not 300 metres away with the same name?? what's going on??

Man, "underground" is such a subjective word and its kind of strange to be discussing who is the best "underground crew"!!!

Your right Sickboy, it was Club M, then A-Life, and now Club M again. Now A-Life had the club and the cafe / bar space on opposite sides of the Nishi-Azabu crossing. I dont know if they are going to call them both Club M and Cafe / Bar M now or what.

The A-Life group of clubs also included Spiral (ex.Pylon) in Roppongi. Spiral is now now R.I.P. so maybe that's why A-Life changed its name to Club M? New Management?

There is also a Club M in Shinjuku that Alex from New Dimention are doing gigs at, I think?? Is this then part of the Club M group of clubs?

There seems to be a bit of competition from both Club M and Ark Studio Cube 326 on the Trance Party front, at least on my inbox. Little do they both know I'm broke as M. Jackson's nose. hahaha.

Because Spiral is closed, we're doing our monthly Friday night at Club M.
I've never had trouble with pxxxce or club secxxxty at Club M like I did at our Spiral parties. I hope Club M will be a good Club space for Trance.

BTW: Just got word, The Belly Dancers might be asking more than we can offer (nothing) so that may not be happening. I was really depressed for a couple of seconds then I realised Sickboy is back on the bill!!!

Anybody willing to give up a little more info on Psychedelik Laboratory?? Are they that underground that they only get fleeting references as having killer parties, but no further information!?!? I'd like to check them out!

My friend that organizes parties in Utsunomiya said there is a party every fullmoon in Gaienmae. Near Radio On I think. Its meant to be a nice Shanti style - exactly the style I like!!! Is this Psychedelik Laboratory?           The music was like new black polished chrome

Looks like Club M is getting lots of small shanti organizers to do parties there. Great. Hope it becomes a shanti space for parties.

I'll look forward to checking out your party Shota and hope you can make it to ours on April 1st and May 6th @ Club M.
