Call me crazy or correct me if I'm wrong.
I feel that Nord Leads are the best sounding all around synths. Even though I own a Virus for many years and other analog synths, apart from Evolver and Super Jupiter nothing sounds better in the hardware world.
I am close of buying a NL 2x, even though I have a NL2, cause it looks like they will discontinue it. Many shops already don't have it anymore..
Your oppinions? |

Put it this way, if you want to make a patch with Phase Modulation between wavetable and formant oscillators, whilst setting a MIDI synced Sample&Glide LFO waveform to modulate the interpolation value of the formant oscillator, the Nord Lead is not the best synth in the world.
I think this answers your question.
Peace out.

Bare in mind that although the NL3 is a nice synth and you can sync the LFOs to MIDI (you can only re-trigger LFOs on the NL1/2), it is a quite different sounding Nord Lead, not nearly as aggressive as the first two.
Peace.

the truth:
the best synth ever is always the one you don't have!
this is the law of g.a.s. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)
nl2 is a decent synth. it's got character and is one of the classic psy synths.
if you get one for a nice price go ahead and buy it.
you can always sell it if you have regrets... again!
