Hope it helps

I find the Beyer-dynamic DT 770 PRO extremely bass heavy...cant say which ones i tested 250 ohm or the 80ohm

Yeah, I own them and never use them because theres just too much bass, and mumbled bass at that.

I bought them when I started producing music and didnt have a clue because the guy in the music store recommeended them, and i regret that decision until this day...           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

you definetly won't find any absolutely linear headphone. I 'd say that's a pretty good chart from the DT770 in respect to the lows. Also the ultrasone 900 are also very good.
..check out here also - you need to scroll a bit down..

I also find hd25 better and this chart proves it, but they really don't feel good on your ears after 1-2 houres. Too much pressure on the ears.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

its good for high-mid range freq, can use spectrum analyser>eq and simple soundcard, imo, but canbe otherwise , cant say its the best, but its a good option in budget
Please dont take it as final, test all , this is what i use n fits in what u asked

If you're not using the headphones for recording/monitoring instruments with a group/band (either live or studio) and only for production on your own get semi open or open back headphones. These let some of the sound out with (IMHO) huge benefits in terms of general sound quality (especially on low frequencies) and fatigue.

I think i even convinced myself to change cans!!!

Take a look at this! Frequency response is one thing! This graph is also very revealing in the sense that it allows you to judge the balance of the speakers, in these case isolating the AKG showing some bumps on some frequencies while the other models are more equally distributed in power across the spectrum.

Also shows the power difference between the Seenheiser and the other models! Huge!

I need to think what i will go buy.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50
AKG K-240 MKII
Sennheiser HD-25 C II
Sennheiser HD-25 SP II
KRK KNS 8400
KRK Systems KNS 6400
Beyer-dynamic DT 770 PRO

This are my choices to think xD

just to make your choice even more difficult, you should also consider buying an AKG K701 or Shure SRH840.
Read some good things about both of them.

I own a AKG K240 Mk2 and they are nice headphones, but the two mentioned before would be quite a step up I think.

Nevertheless the K240's are really OK for mixing, I bought them many years ago, while AKG still manufactured in Austria. The newer non-high end models are now manufactured in China. Just something to consider quality-wise...

that's indeed an important point to consider. If I would not record often I bought not closed ones. I have a few other pairs though. Just saying. Buy not closed ones if you don't record. For mixing and masters check semi open are the choise.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

i don't have the impression that my k701 lack low end information (i can hear sounds clearly that disappear on any other playback system i have available). what is true is that the bass isn't driving at all, which makes listening not quite as pleasurable, but isn't a bad thing for producing imho.
the biggest negative for me with the k701 is that the highs are a bit harsh, what can be tiring to the ears. so i turn the hats down a few db up until i start the mix.

but compared to many other cans (especially the cheaper akg ones) they're still excellent. when you hear some recorded sounds, you can actually hear the shape of the room it was recorded in as if you were there.

yep these are excellent ! but i think beeing quiet flat and our ears are more sensitve to mids, it feel like there is not much bass even if the cans go low, it s "behind " at low/reasonable listening level

i like closed to check the low as it have big bump, if something is wrong in the low end it jump at me more easily while i m not even sure to ear something is wrong on the akg

but they do not suck even if there is not much details on the low it s enought to make some kick bass, still better than monitors in a shitty room imo

AKG 701 have high impedance so they need amp to really work properly.
