tracktor 2.5 foshooooo .. most perfect interface for trance and very @*** friendly .. just fix ne midi controller , assign the keys and killlllllll ! more focus on music and the story ..than beatmaching , cueing and all that jazz.

Virtual DJ is pretty sweet, as far as interface goes, but its a huge resource hog! Traktor is a definite second, runs like a clock. But the best is really Serato Scratch Live! but you need decks. Hands down the best way to mix off a computer.

you guys gotta check out M-Audio's Torq. If you can afford to buy it with the interface (you have to, it does not work without it) then this is the way to go.

i've been a beta tester for M-Audio on this thing since it was invented and I have been using it at all of my shows for the last two years.

its top notch and solid as a rock. definitely worth it.

but, for those that can't afford to buy anything and hit the torrents for a pirate, then probably virtual dj as i know others that have said they loved it.           We are all family. We put the fun in disfunctional.

Tracktor 2.0 works best for me...... almost perfect for any style, either simple cueing & beat matching or playing around with FX & other stuff!           We were born naked & grow up to become wicked.

yeah the Torq unit is on my maybe checklist for next year with my new Mac.

It's be fun to have for my techno/acid tech, D n' B and ambient mixes.

I still prefer mxiing my psy trance via cd

played with my mates torq unit and it was pretty nice!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Virtual DJ works well. The waveforms of both songs being displayed gives you good flexibility.
I have two sound cards running one channel on each, hooked up to an external Behringer DJX700 for all the eqing etc.

of course I think that Native Instruments Traktor Studio is the best

The DN-S3700 is a nice hardware software toy.

funny thing is, I use virtual DJ, and it can be a pain to get it all tweaked properly and stable, but once you do, its a rock too. I've played shows with it for the last year a half with minimal crashing.. actually.. it only crashed once live that I can think of, and thats because I left a bunch of other stuff running..

so if you use it, thin out your system and get rid of all the nonsense apps you dont need. I turn my wifi off too, it frees up resources and eliminates some weird feedback noise that seems to come from using USB, on this laptop anyway..

also use ASIO instead of WDM for audio, I find it sounds better but you need to tweak the latencies and buffer sizes to get the best sound out of it.

I tried traktor but it does everything for me, I like to have a slightly more traditional layout of two decks. I do like having the waveforms to see whats up when mixing between styles (not nessisarily psy but at clubs I play an eclectic mix that often spans alot of genres in one set and It helps to get breaks lined up right with four on the floor and what not.) also its good at reading files on the fly where as traktor takes forever to scan tracks.

just my opinion. I havent tried torq, I've heard great things but the only time I've seen it being used live the guy couldnt get it to work.. it could just be user error though. I'll have to try it out sometime soon. Serato is pretty cool too, but I dont have the box so I cant really get time in on it to decide if I like it better

vitual dj 5 for the mac
just got this last week and its a pleasure to play with
so far no issues with tempo's getting messed up when you tweak bpms (this has happened to me quite a few times on windows using virtual dj 4)
im still to try out traktor and virtual dj with an analog input though           www.soundcloud.com/ishikawa

I like Traktor with external mixer only, that way you do everything the old way, just have to use a mouse or keyboard to control tracks/pitch/fx. Anyone who says Traktor does everything for you is wrong. In fact if you let it do beatmatch with psytrance it is prone to fail, especially with bass heavy stuff. What I do is use headphones through external mixer cue and listen while beatmatching manually. An advantage of traktor is every single piece of control can be key-mapped/midi-mapped. Even the ones you would never think of doing.
For some reason I was put off by the latest Traktor, I think the interface started to be fancy and lost flexibility and straightforwardness. A lot of distracting shit.
Anyways, if you want to use traktor, use it with an external mixer and phones.           Monitoring devices, know where you go
Mass media, total control
Digital delight, desire in megabite
Data overflow, virtual suicide
This information, is disinformation

you dont even need a mouse or keyboard to control that anymore, any deck works fine as long as you have timecoded records and audio 4/8 soundcard or a certified mixer

nevermind the "years after"! 5 years ago you couldnt done it. Now..by having FS or Serato...this could be possible. Its a good way for those who are used to play dj sets on vinyls and not on the CDs..because as we all know, the vinyl distributions are falling down with every day more. So investing into digital distributions, buying from them, making folders on your computer..turning on FS at the party and later playing on vinyls This is awesome stuff But still, i am missing this true vinyl sound
