both right
but
I still want some monsterious bassline that doesn't need to take so much time to work on it.
somehow i find all the artists find themself unhappy with the bass sound, even if they thought it rocks at the first, they alway find it sucks after awhile.
in other genres it is much easier to make bass, because u use string bass (guitar mostly) and this is no secret, like in the synth bass which u have tones of synths and each of those give u other sound, and u never find the best way to make it perfect for long time.
u may like it just for short time, then u find it uninspring and this get on the nerves

Thats what your saying ?!!?

And thats what I'm saying
Yo Mista thats a very interesting way to look at things....
In other geners its much easier?? cause of real bass guitar?
to you play any instrument to you know how hard it is to play something thats really good and unique....
you wanna get a FAT bass sound with not much hard work?
so why are you making music if you dont wanna work hard?!
All seems a bit ODD to my humble opinion

well people , now i want to push this.
lets not talk why actual basslines have innovationlacks. lets talk how future basslines could work and share our opinions [!]
well, whats our problem: the problem is maybe the 1/16 bassline, synthibass-preset from the-vb1, a little bit crunch on it, some nice eq, a nice kick, everything in the maximiser, thats it, the tea is cooked. yeah it sounds great, i know.. i used it often and it works fine...
but listen all you musicmakin dudes:
the sound which will lead the future is not a that from a formular repeating-maschine. its the sound who invents new forms of basslines.
lets get into the lab . . . . . . .
i will tell you what i found out, maybe someone wants to grap it and is able to improve it, lets share our ideas:
i used the vanguard, 2 saw-oszilators, a little bit detuned to each other (the button right from the 3 oscs). the GLIDE button works very interesting, when enabled: if you play the notes too long they overlay with each other because the synth is now monophonic and the sound "glides" from one tone to the next tone. its like a robot who is turning the PITCH up and down exactly to the melody you used to edit.
well, i made a line with overlayed just some bassline-notes, it was like a standart fullonbassline (K B B B, K B B B,...) jumping trough the octaves a semitone here and one here mabye, just like the vb-1. i enabled the GLIDE...
woow some basstones went like standart and some just where pitched.
like "WUM WUM WUM WUOAAP WUM WUM WUM."
and i did more overlays and made the loop shorter and got a very energetic line, sounding like a grave. (no jokes dudes) i have never heard this before. and its so fucking simply to use glides on bassline like the old acid-producers did.
anyone here made some similar experiences with new ideas? maybe the same....?
cheers |

just forgot...
everything of this works on the (mentioned here allready) trilogy, bassline-vsti and every synth which supports monophonic glides. (in fruity is also a synth with this function but i dont know it much, i dont use fruity).
for tonight another idea
bassline > waves-enigma (rep=1,bigfader=0(yes!),mix=20?,speed=slow, 3 faders on left down: nearly closed, middle, nearly closed) > compression (ratio: endless, treshold:(-20?), attack and release: completly no envelopes.
what you get is an bassline which never lost its punch but its creamy phasing the likepioneer-jet. you can do it with every synth you want to protect from frequency jumps while flanging, anyway.
cheers again. |

he did not make this tutorial so everyone could make full on bassline ... he make this tutorial so we dont have question: "how to make full on bassline" every day with answers like: "use the search"
stick this at the top so we could go on witouth that kind of questions every day!

Anyhow... this topic is going somewhere again, im gonna try the Stringbot trick..
btw.. for all you anti-bassline-working-a-lot-on-the sound-people, ever built a house without a good: b a s e ment...? |

the plug in loosing "key input" is a known bug in the tc native , and no it wont get fixed as they stopped the support for the native series and mostly developing for tc power core now ..
Mike , please don't post no more posts like this , i think as a mod of forum isratrance you could do better then this " i can teach you make gms " , please no more , i beg you .
thanks !

I see no problem in such post, what mike said has been told countless times in this forum, he just managed to put it all toguether in a sigle, much more simpler post to avoid the countless repetitive posts we have about basslines
And from his tutorial you can achieve countless bass sounds it will all depend the setting, notes and vst you use
isn´t this section about helping ppl to make music? isn´t the bassline the part where most ppl producing focus?
i think its like it has been said in here before (i think it was mike)...you must first learn the rules to know how to break them properly

For the love of creation!!
People don't write GMS-style basslines because they figure out how to write them, they write them because they
1) like them
2) think other people will like them
Someone who wants to write something other than GMS-styled basslines will GREATLY benefit from this tutorial simply because it will help them understand what *not* to do, should they decide to do something different. But ultimately that is the artists decision, and there is not one person on this planet that has the right to say what another artist should or should not write.
If ya don't like GMS-styled basslines, don't write 'em! And leave the folks that want to do that alone, that's their business.
As for the tutorials, keep 'em coming. I've got a few I'll be working on in a bit (music or tutorials - oh the decisions!), but I'm always interested in learning new tricks/techniques.
peace,
-Alex |
