well creativity is not only about being able to put the sounds together in a new way.. it's about _creating_ your own sounds..
and also you have another thing, i spent 1 month creating my bassline and making it almost perfect, so now in name of creativity i should tell you how to do it?? is it creativity or lazyness? i'm confused.
but here's a tip, if you pay i guess most artists will give some of their stuff to you with no problems.. ;D

Thanks for the Tutorial, for me as a complete Newbie it was interesting to see how these groovy basslines are created ;-) One question though: Where can I find the "Waves RBass" plugin? I googled but couldn't find it...

For bassline in conjunction with kick I use a emu rompler(orbit 3) with professionaly designed bass and kick patches by renowned sound designer or samples through a software sampler, if I want to detune it or so.
I use them completely as midi and choose the note length of the notes carefully so they don't "bite" eachother. At this stage it should sound pretty good. If any compression or EQ needed for MINOR adjustments, then I do it in audio realm by mixing. I go mostly with my ears rather than sample edit or side chaining. Occasionally I use direct analog sound from my A6, but the samples also originate from a real analog synth. These samples are so good that I don't have to tweak it much. Most of the time when I try to tweak, I f** it up, so I stay away from it, you defintly want to cut the very sub and very hi freq from your bass using EQ at mixing stage with this 2 tracks in solo to brighten up and have them sing together, but try to avoid overcompressing. If the tracks starts to sound muddy than you've SEVERLY overdone it, less is more in compression realm.
It is not rocket science at all. Do this and go on with the rest of your tune. If your track is interesting enough, you'll end up having it (pre-)mastered professionally, so it should be cool then. It is advisable to learn how to master you tracks semi-professionaly for your demos and live. It triggers my obssessive nerve, when I start doing pre-mastering After sitting there on premastering for a while, I get this damn writer block, and I don't know why:-)

Anyways, this is my version of things. Take it or leave it ;-P

no man you shouldn´t give anything to me, but some people do maybe just to give a little bit of help for unexperienced people like me. That is really nice and also important cause it gives noobs some hints to use the big amount of possebilities in a more experienced way than a beginner could (perhaps it inspires).
"Creativity" and "making your own sounds" without knowing the basics and also without knowing your possebilities is quite an easy thing^^, hope you´ve never read a manual for a synth or a book about producing music, that´s in a certain way the same like reading a tut about "how to make...". It´s in your hands what to do with this knowledge, you should ignore it...

i make kick and bass in about half hour usualy this time is ok for a good resolt iff it pass this time much usualy its shitty cos of to much tweaking

bass sample or synth must be us best us it can be in the beggining if its not clean loud and punchy from the start whatever you do want make it sound great
if its good it doesnt need of much eq and compression but it needs to be well fitted with the kick

usualy from my experience kick needs more eq than the bass

So I was playing around in Cubase a couple of days ago and ran into the kick length issue that was raised in the beginning of this thread. I had completely forgotten about cutting off the tail and ended up timestretching the kick drum to the exact length of 1/16th note. It seemed to do the trick without needing to clip the tail end of the kick drum. Has anyone else tried to timestretch the kick instead of cutting off the tail?           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

it works dependig on the time-stretch algorithm and how the pitch is changed (mostly it will flang a bit)

Interesting... I used the drum algorithm and it didn't seem to flange or anything like that. I wouldn't neccesarily do it like that in Logic ( I like the EXS-24 better anyway) but in the end whatever works works...
