yes...totaly agree Dovla, they only changed the color!! ...but i think that nobody buys an album or compilation just because of the cover. To me..if the track list is good i dont care about the cover,of course its always nice to see diffrent art works on cds.

there are people who don't know much about this music scene and I believe they do buy it because of the cover. It can be their only guide since they don't know any of the artists. And when they walk into a shop and see 3-4 compils with the same cover they're gonna say the same thing I said...that it's crap...at least that's what I think

Man! You wouldn't believe hopw many ppl I know that buy cd by cover!
Not that they don't know what is good, but a good cover will call you much more to give it a listen Same thing when u put the covers in the cd case...I think that even unconsciously it influences a bit when piking a cd...
But that ugly cyber elephant seem not very easy to make, so its not a matter of not working on it...its just a matter of bad taste!

I prefer the "minimal" cover proposed by DeathPosture to the rat / elephant, which reminds me more of a "Makina Techno vol. 125" comp than a Psy comp.
But let be honest, there always were cheap, chain-produced Goa comps since the early days with bad covers, so I'm not sure the trend is getting worse.
I have much more problems with Yahel's or AP's latest covers, where the guys are just showing off like old hard rock bands of the 70's or 80's. Big big egos...

I agree that there are a lot of really bad covers but the comment "it takes five minutes in photoshop" isn't relevant since no art should be judge be the time it takes to make it but what it gives to the listener or the person who looks at it. Some of the masterworks have been done in a couple of hours and some music/artwork that people have spend months to do are just really boring, non innovative and/or to complicated.
A well knowned cliché: less is more ... I think this is very true and extremely hard to achieve ... it's always easier to add something extra than to find something that is as good to keep it simple.

What about the Goa-Head series? 17 volumes (i think) with exactly the same cover, just a different color

Maybe they do that well planned
Like a theme for their series
So if you dont like the first cover, then obviously you dont like the whle series.
But whether you like it or not is individual judgement.
If purple monkeys weren't meant to fly then why do i only see them when I'm high? |

I actually think those covers are kinda cool.
But I am more into the simple, stylish covers nowadays than the super-complex fractalized stuff. Simple overs like the one on Ticon - Aero or Antix - Lull really impress me, while something like the cover of the new Suria album aren't really anything new to me.
The YSE comps are different ones in a series, so it makes sense they just use the same design with a different color scheme. Just look at the first few TIP releases (Blue, Yellow, Orange, Phosphorescent) or the early "Goa Trance" compilations on Rumour, or any other countless compilation series. Same design, different colors - gives continuity, IMO.
