The whole front page of Psyshop is filled with awful covers. Take you pick..

this one, though, stood out to me - I guess that's a sign of good art? It's different and well done, imo.

yes I was just about to mention that Horns and Hoofs Entertainment has fantastic covers, also some boshke beats covers are fantastic as well, especially this one

To Seb:

Yes I agree that you shouldn't judge art by the amount of time it takes to make it. But I pointed that particular cover out because it really takes you a couple of seconds to see how it was made and reproduce the same thing yourself and that really makes it terrible. For me, graphic art is much more valuable if I can't figure out how some elements of a picture were made and make them myself. It doesn't matter how complex it is if it's good and original. And besides, no good covers were made in 5 minutes, no matter how simple or complex they were. So that was just an expression I used because it takes no effort to make the same kind of cover yourself.           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

i think there is not even a place to explain how seb's design is better than that cover. and its not about the time it takes to make it.           let's take a walk on the proogy side

Too many labels don't know that I'm existing..... and that I'm cheap !!

BTW oh yes, bravo for this great Horns'n'Hoofs cover !! A superb work with painting as starting point.

i _like_ the jokke in the mix cover.. and as seb said it matters not a jot how long it takes to make or not.. at least it isn't a fractal ffs! agree that the elephant is a little weird.. though i can see the idea behind it.           >>love will tear us apart...<<

Well it's true that the In the Mix cover is over very easy to do...

I mean the tool does this alone... without any settings..

No one beats the awful Tip.World designs.
If you have the inner sleeve for the Yeti part 2 you can see the credits disappear inside the black parts of the background picture.
I can count worthy artworks for Tip.World releases. They have such a gifted designers like Brahma, why don't they use him more often?

I really like the idea that the label has a "resident" designer that "almost" always works with them.
Like Mark Neal for Twisted, Doron Edut for Hom-Mega and a guy who's name i don't recall that works for 3DVision.

I am sure that there are a lot of talented designers out there that can do amazing work and cheaply, just for the love of the music.
Why not use them?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Another aspect is how much money the small labels can afford to invest in fancy graphic designs by super duper graphic designers when they only sell 500 copies

Well why dont you contact the labels and offer your service to them? If your work is good enough and your prices affordable for the labels then I am sure some of them will say yes thank you - Isn't that what we the "mp3 complainers" always are told... To shut up and do something about it? Well here's right back at ya

And what the Jokke In The Mix lack of in visual attraction it sure make up for it in the quality of the mix and music on the CD - I suggest you buy it if you love sexy music
