I think CD covers are important, because it reflects the artist. It shows how much he cares and how much effort went into it.

Cd covers in my opinion play a major role for someone to buy a cd.

Personally i have bought albums of various artists and labels just for the cd cover, one i can recall for example was the Atmos-Headcleaner,amazing minimal artwork.

The bad thing is that a good cd cover actually costs a lot in addition to the cd sales...           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I don't know if you're dealing with the creation itself or the "technical price" ...

Because it's true that for a top original work.. very expensive techniques such as (sorry for the bad translations...if anybody feels like correcting.. thanx) "cutouts", "waffle effects", or selective varnish are hot tricks to dissociate a cover from the others..

The price is sadly often a edge which is too high..

I say,
if a label/artist worked lots on the CD to sound like it does - the cover will represent that work.

Means, a regular CD compilation, will usually have some regular not interesting cover. imho           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

A good friend of mine bought 5 CD's based on cover alone due to the queue to listen at PsyDMT. They were all well designed and thought out art work - and the CD's were all amazing! A fluke I am sure, but the number of times you arrive home from an amazing party and put a CD on (that is if you haven't copied it) and then sit tripping out on the art work.....or maybe I am just a little clazy....

Packaging makes a huge difference with regards to the decision to purchase... I don't have too much negativity to add to this thread at all, sorry So here's a release that has AMAZING packaging: Haltya - Forest Flavour... anyone who has it knows what I'm talking about

Agreed... That is one beautiful cover... And the digipack (without any plascit) is very well crafted... Well, I guess you have to see it to understand...
