@ Acidity - in the Alchemist when Santiago meet the girl by the well of the oasis some where in the middle of the desert his thoughts of her are so pure and the magic he talks about in the eyes of the two is so serene... Santiago after meeting her goen on with his journey but at the end comes back for her... it is the encounters and the beautiful of it that i was talking about Paulo Coelho to me seemed to be a true romantic i wanted my BF to be like...
@ TRanscedentalist - good thought about reading the book. any book read by both gives more subject to talk about this book specially might just do wonders i just have one question - how do i make my husband read period
@ Gopendra - drinking and taking a swim in the river is a diffent thing but getting carried away by it is some thing else... appriciating the beauty of a jungel is diff and getting lost is some thing else... am sure many want to drift and many want to get lost at the end of the day it is all your prioritization and the decisions you make.
books can make u think, make excellent food for thought, even conversation openers and carriers but they dont become your life... we have Psy chedelic trance to do that

Hey guys.. on the topic of nature i have a few questions.
Do u remember any rules and advice that you might have been given while growing up about nature and your behaviour towards it?
For eg... Never pick up unknown stones or objects or take a dip in a stagnant pond in a jungle, or even dont whistle at night etc..
It would be interesting to know about the different things we have heard or encountered, be it superstitions, truth or even rubbish.
@Gopendra
You had mentioned your troll episode.

@karma cola
I was sent to a school... where every tuesday morning we performed a 'havan' by sitting in front of a fire and recited mantras, and wednesday there used to be reciting the 'sandhya' mantras...
i come from a highly superstitious as wel;l as pious past...
among some of the most wierdest things that i was taught... 1)not to have a hair cut on tuesdays and fridays, fridays coz i was born on a friday, and tuesday... im not too sure I recollect the reason!
2)I was always instructed not to whistle during night coz its somehow bad, and to make me stop doing it someone would say whistling attracts snakes..
3)I was also taught not to clip my nails inside my house becuase its a bad omen... 'never did anybody mention hygene'
4)Most elders in my family also, still believe that a 'bat' should not enter our houses, its another bad omen..
5)not to look at my shadow under moonlight... they always said that il never grow taller than I was if I looked at my own shadow at night (!?)
6)not to sleep face down, on my tummy at night, because it will hinder my confidence!
there are loads more that I dont remember right now...but this should be surprising enough! Nothing is said that has not been said before. |

Oh yeah i still have some nasty ideas about a few things
- never pass under a pepel ka tree at night, ghosts will catch u
- seeing dreams of snakes means trouble coming your way but if u killed the snake that means u solve will the problem
- Never that means NEVER wash your hair on a thursday for it brings harm to your brother.
- go back if a black cat crosses your path... hell waht is your pet is a black cat
- never try to walk thru Vrindawan at night
- dont call spirits - play plan chit
- pull one white/grey hair out and six will come to its funeral
- dont pluck flowers/fruits at night
for a chikita like me who is anyways scared as hell of things this was enough to make me shiver and scream each time i saw a banyan tree and a pepel tree :scared:

Too many rules and those things prevalant in our soceity to even list them out. No idea how important or true they are but there is definitely an added element of fun to follow those rules.
@Gopendra: The only effect that reading so many books with so vast subject lines only opens up my mind to a separate thought process and reminds me that alternate to something also exists. It tells me to analyze both the side of the coin and then use my experience and intelligence to fathom which side is correct. Have read many books which has opposite ideas then mine e.g. reading a book on Marxism and communism (2 of the few things i detest and sincerely believe that with Congress they are rotting our country....let us not digress from the subject out here), but then I do come to know what situation that made those two subjects so popular. Maybe those things should have never happened......

Maybe I'm the only person in the world who hated the Alchemist. I just don't get these deep, semi self help semi enlightening books. Ha ha. Who cares about the stupid rock things? As much as this doesnt betray my ignorance or illteracy I love to read and have been reading way way to early. At Secret Seven level when at pre-school and kids are reading Noddy. Always bored me being a little ahead, and i'm not pretending i'm a genius. I just dont like Coelho, thoughh I read his biography. He used to party it up and was a big fan of Columbia's biggest export. Who would've thought!
My favourite books recently have all been non-fiction, by Karen Armstrong. She used to be a Nun and teach at Balliol in Oxford, and then she started travelling to places like Jeresaulem. I would definitely recommend the Battle of God by her and her BRILLIANT autobiography of Muhammad. Simply stunning, everyone should read her books to understand why and what is going on in the world today. Imagine Jerusalem is the centre of three of the worlds leading religions. Was there something in the water? Also Robert Fisk - The Great War for Civilisation- The Conquer of the Middle East is phenomenal.He's the Indepedents (atleast semi-independent in this American world of censorship and CNN ) award winnign Middle East correspondent. I would recommend reading his columns,articles online and this book, even though its REALLY LONG (1800 pages or summat) but so insightful, and I'm really into Middle Eastern Politics. Like the Iranian Prez, he's proper gangster. Here we are discussing Nuke deals with the US and then Russia which ofcourse scares the US and then Iran should be sanctioned against cos they are. What do they say about people in glass houses?
And about superstions, the ones I remember are, dont cut your nails at Night, dont go near the Raat ki rani YUMMMY smelling plant at night cos of the snakes and if I sneeze my dad doesn't let me leave the house for 10-15 minutes. That's the strangest one!
And for brilliant light reading I would recommend - Dooh, the Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, so crispily and familiarly written, also Hells Angels and everything by Hunter S. Thompson, including his columns and itnerviews online. What a guy! Last but no least, my favourite author ever - Somerset Maugham, get your hands on his 'The Razor's Edge' and if any1s in med school DEFINITELY 'Of Human Bondage'....I love his style of writing, like Hemingway but far more ironical and european. Ha ha, I should get back to work .... Happy Reading guys!

@melloncollie
u just rose a notch in my book, coz ur a gunners fan as well!!! hooray!! juve's gonna get sorted out right!!!
As for readin.. my dad was the biggest collector of Noddy when he was a kid.. haha.. he still has it, dunno where tho, but its there alright. Now that i think of it, the characters were depicted in quite a psychedelic way.
Im sure all of u can vouch for the fabulousness of reading and the myriad mental imagery that comes with it. I picked up reading good authors in the 8th grade or sumthn, tho i had read all the senior history books way earlier. Am a history major on the way to law school so i guess that explains that.
@Forest Dreams
Dude.. once in boarding school, we decided to call upon the spirit of Lokmanya Tilak. Serious, i mean what the hell were we thinkin??
But anyways.. it was planchet and everythn was in order. And we all convinced ourselves we saw the coin move etc.. rubbish, nothing happened at all, but we were quite happy with the whole experience.
Do any of u guys remember the "never turn around when ur name is called on and empty, deserted road" myth?

OMG...unfuckingblievable........ho and lo and all shit...out of everywhere I find Arsenal fans in Isratrance.
@melloncollie: 3 kisses for you for bringing up this subject.
This post is seriously offtopic but what the hell.....now for the prayer:
"If you come to Highbury....You can see Thierry Henry" ..... Aaaaaahhhh....bliss!
With no Nedved and mostly Ibrahmovic playing alongside Trezeguet who in my guess is the best hearder in World Football today after probably some of those tall German fcukers ...no Nedved so nobody from the wing to pass high balls for Trezequet to head in. Yipieeee...
Highbury (probably one of the smallest ground in the world) will definitely test Juventus. Juventus in my mind is the most stable team with good players covering all departments of the game and masters of 1-0 wins. So it boils down to: the most stable team vs the most attacking and young team in the world.
Henry Vs. Cannavaro
Viera vs. Fabregas
Ibrahimovic vs. Sol
hehehehehehehheheheheheh....and not to forget Alxander Hleb (who is coming back to form after the injury) and the evergreen...Bergkamp. This will be lip smacking encounter. Shit....one more night without sleep and being in office with dreary eyes!
AC Milan, Inter and Barcelona should get it easy.
Go Gunners.......
BTW, Gunners need to perform in the EPL to get through to UCL again next year. 2 points separate them from Hotspurs. I think 22nd April is the North London derby at Highbury.

@Karma cola
You're not gonna believe this, My elder bro along with his engeneering scientist friends once did this experiment in poona. they used to call this spirit that kinda got attached to them, she came by again n again every nite... till one fine night these boys n girls got fried and started getting skepticle about the whole planchet thing saying this is one small part of our underestimated brains thats moving the coin n there is no spirit n blah blah... the experiment was that, an empty beer can be kept on a refridgirator top inside the kitchen, the spirit used to entre from the kitchen window(so it seems) and she was to drop the can when she comes.... and you wouldnt believe that the following few nights when they concentrate on the coin, in the next fifteen minutes or so... the can used to fall off the top, more like some ones delibrately pushed it, futher more.. they even shut of all the windows in the house for the next couple of nights and yet the can used to topple off! some of his friends shat in their pants when it happend for the first time!
@jabba
Ive been asking myself the same question... but the scene is , and I have felt it, that the coin kinda moves, and it moves with a lot of force... the only thing I havent seen is the coin move on its own... one of the spirits or my subconcsiousness told me n my friends that it would take a lot of energy for them to move the coin by themself... I have also spoken to spirits about 'time'. it seems they have no time zones, they can be anywhere at any time!
one particular spirit of a lil kid who died in a plane crash once told us, that he remembers the way he died.. but has no clue what happened to him for the next few years, and now hes back again on earth. he also said spirits coexist with humans and there are no bad spirits as such.. some could be playful but definitely not evil!
now with so much up my head.. I dont really know what to believe n what not to!
also have tried asking questions about people who werent there with us during a session, like what coloured t-shirt a particular someone is wearing at that time... and on confirmation it seems that person who wasnt present with us there.. was wearing that coloured t-shirt! Nothing is said that has not been said before. |

Yipeeeeeeeeeee! The Gunners brigade is invading Isra-trance! Besides that Juve are normally my absolute enemies (I love ze Campiones of Milan too what to do) I just hate how Viera left us, yes, i'm a woman and we are spiteful. I hope fabregas outruns outpaces and out-does him. All he has is his giant legs and physical presence, Cesc has youth, goodlooks (NEARLY) and phenomenal pace. Arsenal are coming together, and this alone makes me happy - what with the likes of so many under 23 year olds, Hleb, the new Kanu - Adebayor, Cesc, Song, I wish they'd just put Bellamy in. I also pray for the day Cygan retires, I swear everytime he doesn't play we win - anybody else ever notice this trend? I don't know if Sol is back or how good that really might be, since we're used to play without him at the back. We've only conceeded 8 goals this year, new Premiership all time low since the start of 2006. Who would've ever thought?
Hleb is great, Reyez is back! Pirez is on form and Bergkamp can always play a half and change the game. I always grumble about the away goal rule, but hopefully, it'll help us, defend defend defend, especially with Juve playing a slightly less attacking game or so I would presume is Capellos strategy, because giving us width at home is dangerous. I could go on and on and on. Also the stars that are Cole when he wants, Van Persie and Lehmann even though he gives me the jitters everytime the ball hits hour half. Still, who wouldve thought a bunch of not so knowns all over our field pulling together so well.
If you're talking about guys who head the ball, that sadly aint my baby Thierry. My mirror and wall at Uni are a shrine, all from this GQ spread about him last year. What about Terry, that mad man defender, scores more goals then half the strikers in Italy. and the EPL. Loonie tune. Funny that for all of Chelseas oil bucks, Terry and Lampard are still their best bets. HA ha Jose you morose sulking DIVING teaching moron. How can he complain about Messi, how exactly was it that Porto won CL and who taught Deco to dive so brilliantly?
Down to Juve. Trezguet unfortunately is having the season of his life, just like the last - after a dismal 2 years, but Nedved just brings something else and its great hes out. He also got another red card on the weekend! Yipee fer Milan since they won! Also DP the great is on form and scoring mad goals, good hes injured I just wish Buffon would suffer from butter finger syndrome all of a sudden. Arsenal are on impeccable form the last few weeks, and i think we've got a game in hand and post the Pompie delay we should be right behind the Spurs, oops but Boro won too 4-3! Oh oh. We cant we cant we cant finish below the Spurs, the chants from White Hart Lane will be unstoppable, but as I said once we win CL this year we dont need to finish top 4. SO many similaritise to the Reds last year.
Also viva la barca guys, as long as Henry stays with us. There is only one Thierry Henry!!!!! Thank god disgusting Chelski and dirty Drogba got whoooped. It all up tomorrow night, i don't think Inter or Milan have it as easy as it looks. Can't believe theres not one Bundesliga team left also, and us Gooners the only English one.
Enough footie talk, WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Sooper excited now.
PS Karma - Spooky shit, my BA was History and now i'm half way through Law school and actually in Dubai on an internship - at work now as we speak, should be looking at monster agreements and contracts but footie talk rulez. Guys - get our gossip at http://www.goonernews.com - gets all Arsenal news from every website.
There is only one Thierry...
But now we got some sweeeeeeeeeeet kids sorting us out ; ) Budding talent at its best. I wish we had Messi tho, bloody 100 mill buy out clause!
