hi i am new to this thread...but i am amazed to read all this ....we been takin about indian culture and western...i think wen we talk about collective consiousness then we talk about the universe as a whole not about countries and nation ...one of my friend , few days back was talking about HUMAM SOURCE CODE ... i somehow cud not relate ,coz i m not from science background ...but i am very excited to know wt "HUMAN SOURCE CODE" is and how it operates in you how you can change it .
but whatever i got 2 know from my friend "oorja" he says:The human source code is about the inner perating system that comes standard when a human being is born.it takes you on a journey of discovery about the "self". this is the study of man (humanity) "as a Unit" . Not ALL of it 2gether. very interesting..
but interesting part in it is that you can always change this code ....

Human Source Code = DNA
DNA is made of Choromsomes, Chromosomes made of Complex protiens, Complex Protiens made of Protiens and protiens are made of all elements like Nitrogen, oxegen, carbon, sodiam etc... these elements are inturn made up of elctrons and protons and neucleous which in turn are nothing but diff types of Ions which vary in strength to give any element its properties.
DNA = the sourse code millions of miles long in the mitochondria of each cell in our body, it is also called the power house of the body; to me it is the sun of the universe called cell 
the source code amongst al humans remains the same with only a point(decimal figure) differnce and same is the differnece between a chimp and a man or any mammel or a man or any organism and man...
hence proving all species on earth are made up of earth itself just that some are singel celled like ameoba and some are more complex like coral and some much much more complex like us.
DNA = God = keeps a tally of Karma = defines our destinity for we might not be much larger than a small liver cell in an organism called Universe, DNA wouold decide where u will be born and where u will end and what will u do, for it keeps stock of all that u have done in the past so many lives and will do in future.
Just the way zeros and ones form a binary code in computers different settings of protiens in DNA form us.
and yes Ofcos we can change our destiny... am too optimistic to conflict that

Whoa i jus started readin this thread myself so i havent gone thru it all, but i'm totally into this stuff myself so i really gotta grab a copy of most of the books mentioned...including ofcourse the autobiography of yogi.
But a book that is a MUST read is 'THE MASTER KEY SYSTEM' by by Charles F. Haanel. this book not only changed the way i think completely, it has drastically changed my life. This book however is banned. It was written way back in 1912 and back then for 10 years it became very popular and it changed alot of people, but later it became kinda controversial and the church got it banned...not exactly sure why, so today there are very few existing copies and people are willing to pay in thosands to get a hand on it. It is also said that Bill Gates got his hands on it as a child and understood and followed it and thats about when he quit high school to start his own software firm and became the worlds richest man.
My only critism of it is that, not everyone can read it and understand the true meaning of wot he is implying, all these books we're talkin about here has something in common, so unless u have decent exposure to this topic....this book might not influence u that much, just because u didnt understand it. you can read it over and over again and still feel like its the first time your reading it.
After i heard all this being said about that book i looked for it for over a month and i luckily managed to get a copy of it.
If anyone needs a copy i have it in an ebook format....jus p.m me and i'll send u the entire book thru an email attachment with the hope that you'll too discover 'the truth'.

hmmmmm sorceress you seeem like a pretty interesting, intelegent chick.....u go pretty deep...all the best in your quest for the truth.......n hopeful if u get there first....u cud share sum of it wit me....i know the truth cannot just be told, u have to take the journey yourself to the truth and discovery it yourself. But a lil insight cud help

I dont think the debate should revolve around ideas of westernization of the east. Isn't that reverse colonialism? Im just playing - i dont actually think so, but countries are growing to develop and provide for their citizen and not so that they will fit in with the rest of Developed world. Certain far more appealing 'western' concepts are liberal concepts, and adopting them can be likened to adopting a liberal approach to governance and politics and econimic growth.
And I dont think being more western is a sign of sucessful upbringing. I think good education, good values, respect, these are the signs of a sucessful upbringing, and these are values inherent to any culture or community - not the west or the east only.

sorry to be posting so much in a row but i was goin thru this post and therez soo much in it....for e.g. all that stuff MellonCollie jus said. I was born in kuwait and spent most of my life there, jus moved to bangalore bout 4 years ago. i gotta admit i was kinda embarrased bout bein indian myself ova there....esp. considering how the kuwaitis treat us indians there. If any of you people are thinkin racism has gone down almost completely, you'll have no clue. But anyway, after living here, after meet everyone, after learning so much more bout this country, i fell in love with it, and for the first time i began to feel proud ov being indian. Ballz to the west lol...we shudnt be trying to impress or immitate them, we must try to impress ourselves and immitate our own thoughts and values.
However, even john lenon says this in 'imagine', all these divisions......states, countries, the west the east, india, america blah blah..these divisions arent real. They dont even freakin exist...its man who made these divisions....and its us who are hypnotised into believing we all come from different places. Its one planet, one world fer cryin out loud...we all come from the same freakin place, we're all people of the same world...one of a kind. We're bought up with these thoughts and programmed by everyone that such divisions exists and we're all different...dehypnotise urself!
At a rave once this german guy i met, he asked me after a lil conversation where i was from (even though i look pretty indian heh) and i said "I'm from exactly where your from", and in confusion he remarked "no actually i'm a tourist, so i was just wondering where you were from". and i said "arent we all tourists here? i mean look around, your on a journey, and so am i and so is everyone around us". it was a goa rave and i was pretty tripped out i mus admit lol.
so well, i'm proud to be an indian yea, but i'm even prouder to be a part of this beautiful world, a citizen of humanity. Love you all!

Holy moly....were you a science student? Even though I am a science student and know all those stuff about DNA, I couldnt express it like that. Shit! Awesome writing...you should start a blog of yours and yeah...i will be the first reader 
@HiGheR^AcCeSs - As for racism prevalant in the world. Watch this new movie - Crash. Fcuking awesome. It brilliantly dispplays how racism is still prevalant in every country even in our beloved Amrika. But then its a different subject alltogether...we will require another thread for it.

Actually, coming to think of it I kinda dont believe in this one country for all theory which lot many people propound in this forum.
Its our country which gives us our unique identity.
