Actually, one of my problems with teh two religions you mentioned is that i feel its too much of a 'guilt' trip. If ur not good, u will fry in hell, if ur great u get to shag a bunch of virgins?? WTF???

But the point is u doint need to scare people to make them do the right thing. thinkin about killing you, but not doin it doesnt absolve me from the bad karma i have already gained. Sucks i know.. but hey..

I feel there is some truth to these stories... maybe its coz i dig history so im partial...
but it cud also be that.. in those ages, the human mind was very fragile.. and so they created these supposed hero's to give the masses sumthn to think abt apart from their harsh , boring lives??
plu.. if u read the autobio.. some shit is reaaallly hard to believe.. ( but as i said.. i believed every word)

OMG 
@ Neon Sonnet - i hate to burst the bubble but Rama and good husband... hah Sita had to go thru Agni Pariksha to prove here chastity and she did... despite of this she was sent to the Jungles... and she gave birth to the twins there in some ashram, good farther well he saw his sons only when they were teenagers so may be.
here pls dont consider me to be offensive i just like to appriciate things the way they are and not think everything is pink and pretty.
@ Karma Kola - well am sure Rishi Valmiki had a muse based on whom he wrote the story. am sure there was a prince who was good looking and strong... am sure the Prince walked all the way from Mid india to Srilanka making that huge Palk straight bridge which can be seen from the satellite even today but the Prince met Mutents on the way half bird half human or half monkey and half human... hell he even had Nuclear weapons on the tip of his arrows. and ofcourse they had planes etc on which Sita was kidnapped.
i mean wow.
Being a Bandit himself Valmiki had a very very high IQ which he put to use in a rather creative fashion. 
i loved the autobio and did believe all that is written in it... i do believe in telepathy, Giri bala not eating at all and still being healthy, poeple being at two diff places at one time, homo sepiens being able to materialise there form after being dead for hours...
just the way i believe that we are the most supreme beings in the universe. we are the most succesfull experiments of nature yet.

I prefer Krishna and the story in Mahabharata more realistic and I can connect to it more then Ramayana and Ram. Like a typical bollywood movie - it has drams, action, sex, sleaze, deception, frndship, betrayel, family etc etc etc. More so what happens in nowadays in normal life.
I love the concept of Krishna going around with so many gopiyas without having an actual affair and people looking at the relationship with such purity.
Moreover, Gita is my favorite book yet. Havnt read it all but I have an Ebook of the same. BTW, if somebody wants a PDF version of Gita, just PM me. Its just 1.5MB. I will happy to mail it across.

You bet it is. I just finished the chapter where lahiri mahashaya describes his meeting with his guru - Babji. Holy fuck. Body turning themselves to vapor, grand palace being created in middle of jungle. Some shit are indeed hard to believe.
I wonder which herb did these people used to smoke back then?

about myths :I have the strange belief that there is much hidden truth behind myths,the earth before thousand years was different,with much more plant spieces wich disapeard and animal spieces wich were dangerous to the humans.Gods were living more closer to earth with people to help them from powerfull demons and monsters.Humans havent got enouph strength to kill that monsters and so gods were there for that.So why not to believe in dragons or in hercules?
today after all those battles and evolution of technology people saying that the history before thousand years is just a myth...we are so normal in our days...it is dificult for our generation to believe some weird things ,we live in 2005 and see the future with robots,alien and spacecrafts,and that make us difficult to believe in monsters before 3000 years....

does any one believe in ghost stories???
i know people who swear by them and me personally to am very very scared... its those scarey times when u petrified to look behind u in the dark alley (or the bathroom).  how u scared to close your eyes in a shower. and how at night u feel there is some one in the other room when u know for a fact that u alone at home. 
well this could be a magnificent excuse I harbored for my self so that I don’t be all by my self at night and always have frens around but then deep down I know what reality is

and yes the mere thts of doing bad would tentamount to bad karma ......absolutely i agree with you
at the same time sadly thats whats happening today these cults prey on the fear people develop and get manipulated by is what i think...... and might not be the actual truth but to a large extent i see it most of the time ......
And Ghost stories @ Sorceress .......... not scared though but yes some time a strange feeling of someone watching you when no one around is
some other time hehehe dont wanna think more on this one .... my freinds and loved one has always cursed me for progressing on this topic

I dont know about ghosts and all but a strange incident happened with a frnd of mine.
He was around 12-13 at that time. One night, while coming of loo in the night, he actually felt that he saw a ghost and he started running around in the house shouting - "Bhoot, Bhoot". He started crying badly till his parents consoled him down.
Next day his grandfather expired. Still people say that he saw the felt the ghost of his grandfather. I would like to add that he was pretty close to his grandfather.
Scary!
