The seeker is he, who is in search of himself, and a teacher is definetely very important, to show the right path, who himself dwells in that super conscious state of existence, but unless there is an intense desire and strong will and one pointed focus, nothing can be achieved, forget finding a teacher, first the seed of intense longing has to be sown, then the flower of realisation will flourish with spreading the divine fragnance of oneness.

My dear friends its really good to see that, there r souls here who wish to explore the inner world. Wish u all the best

@mysticm

Yes, the book has a very honest approach and this makes it a lot easier to digest. For instance, the western world is notoriously sceptical ( yogananda also mentions this), and his experiences are considered hard-to--believe by some. I tried explaining it to one of my american frnds, that there was nothing supernatural abt what he was doin, or what the other yogi's achieved, it was just somethn they trained and were capable of attaining. Somethin like an engineer for example. After being educated in the art he can make bridges, buildings etc.. All u need is the training, teh inner power is within us all.

As for Khalil Gibran, he's definitely not 'offtopic'. Read his book 'The Prophet' many years ago and didnt even like it . But i picked t up in 2003 and read it once on this terribly long flight and it was seriously one of the most profound books i have laid my hands on. Every sentence has like 5 meanings behind it,a nd every time i read the sentence somethn else popped up.

Khalil Gibran Rules... he is amazing in the Prophet...

its truly facinating how hecaught all thoes emotions in words..

asked the rite questions and then wrote the fabulous answers.

"Nymphs of the Valley" is another intriguing work of his.

@ psycoactive psybeing - i have been looking for a guru since years now... Vipassana happened, Yoga initiation also almost happened but then just the way yogananda kept looking even am still at it.

Now slightly drifting... has anyone here seen a movie called Hero... its a Chinky movie... Jet Lee.

very very colourful, beautifully shot.

@ sorceress - The voice of silence is supreme, it is beyond all levels of consciousness and all methods of communication. Learn to listen to the voice of silence, rather than discussing scriptures and arguing, You are on a journey, dont stop for long at one place, as in dont get attached to anything.
Silence will give u what the world can never give u.

Guru is a compund of two words, gu n ru, GU means darkness, Ru means light, that which dispells the darkness of ignorance is called guru.

Last time in silence i heard beautiful symphony....

My heartbeat, the blood flowing, all organs operating at diff frequencies making something so supreme.

For a second when i looked around it was nothing but music everywhere...

when it starts from the heart moves all in me and soon it engulfs the next tree and takes the river shines like the sun and then i am everyone, the moon is soft and the stars bright all just right at wavelengths that compliment each other is such an indefinite way... where one finishes other begins so subtly that two opposites are then nothing but the same... just like gravity pulls us and centrifugal throws us away the heart sways only to stop one day to become something better.

Yes we have heard silence all the way... its the vacuum that i am comprehending now

One of my favs. are the books by Richard Bach. His books are so light. I recommend another book 'The Tao of Pooh' by Benjamin Hoff. Simple but intriguingly excellent.

@sorceress

Hero is an incredible movie. The cinematography is breathtaking. I was so fcukn bug eyed when i saw the fight over the lake. Fan-fcukn-tastic yaar !

Plus, i didnt know the meaning of Guru.. hmm
