Just arrived at home from Aurora 2011
..or ¤URO-ra 2011!!!
Lets start from what I like..
1) Samothraki Island... really amazing natural beauty!!!
2) The Decoration... congratulations to deco team!!!
Its seems they love very much what they are doing...
3) The sound was really loud and clear enough!!
The sound of the chill out stage was good enough too...
The "temple of gnosis" stage was with few speakers but was enough for what it is.
4) The people was smily and ready to chat with everyone... I met so many happy people great feeling!!!
Yes, idiots there are everywhere, but this is rule...
5) The WC's was enough for all campers, and clean enough too.
Lets start now for what I DONT LIKE in this fest...
1) We arrived at fest 2 days before the fest begins at 23:00, and we have pay to camping 4 euros for each person and 4 euros for the tent. We was standing about 2 hours outside of the camping, and waiting to pay all of us this extra cost.
2) The other morning, 1 day before the fest began, at 11:00 clock, security wake all the campers, to get them out... but we have pay the camping to sleep there ofcourse!!!
All campers was outside of the camping for about 6 hours, waiting and waiting on the road under the sun... tickets starts at 17:00 cause braceles was fo vacation or something and we have to wait to come... from where? who knows... and who cares?
This unexpectable!!!!
3) We enter the camping and get finaly a good sleep...
NOOOO!!!!
This Sound enginer who decide to wake up all the camping at 2:00 at night, to make the sound check, I am still trying how much stupidity can be in one person who called sound enginer... I dont think this animal can be named professional.
Why sound check at 2:00 until 3:00???
Cause they have to start the sound at early the morning and they have to hurry up.... NO!!!
Cause they have to start the sound at the evening... NO!!!
The sound start for first time about 19:00..
I still can not understanding which is the reason, except his stupidity, for doing something like that.
4) Chill out stage was open and the sound starts, the second day late at night.
5) The temple of gnosis was a second chill out stage... NOTHING more...
6) Many many many (maybe the most) artists never came, never played...
WHY THIS IN ¤URORA 2011??? Let me guess.........
7) The tickets was expensive but we knew this and we accept it. This which we didnt knew, was the prices of EVERYTHING in the fest. Food, drinks, water, EVERYTHING was with double priced, from the mini market outside the camping.
(for example: the same cold sanduits in mini market 1,20 euros, and 2,5 in the fest, the water in mini market was at 0,25 euros and 0,6 in fest).
Everything, was doubled... maybe they think "They have pay expensive tickets, so the got money, lets take all of their money!!!"
8) The security was NOT gentle, and talking to everyone like a cop or something... learn how to do your job, and if you dont like it, give it up!!!
9) The catering was extremely expensive, UN-gentle, with NO experience...
Everything was not fresh, and not enough.
The WC's must be at their limits 
10) The cars was not allowded TO US, but this is only "for us"... not even for carry the tent and the rest.
The camp has many many many cars,
and driving like mads in camping and no care about the dust on all campers.
The orginizer also with his motorbike riding all the camping like a mad likes he wasnt care about noone near who "eating his dust"
11) The police everywhere is noticed... we are not criminals but they was everywhere and searcing bin laden or something... I dont understand...
Summary was a great fest, except the cost..
With this artists they have to give our money back.
Finaly this is my last visit on event from this organization...
Maybe the are rich now and dont care about me... buts thats only me!

I had a great time there!
Wonderful people and awesome music in a magical island!
Thank you Zen Garden for the nice discussion on our way back home! Love & Light! 
However, many if not all of the artists did not get paid, sth quite common in greek fests. 
And finally, a big F*CK YOU to the people that decided on the products' prices! Both in the festival and on Samothraki. Not only they were expensive but also not stable, everyday the prices were going up and down.
Nevermind, I will keep the positive memories of this experience!

For God's shake , there were people arrested INSIDE the festival by the "security" and by the secret-cops wearing aurora bracelets and ended up at the police station of Alexandroupolis , charged with FELONY for possession and use of a small amount of canabis...
ARE WE SERIOUS ????????????
We are not talking about the arrests outside the festival or at the harbor or streets, we are talking about the arrests INSIDE the festival.....
This is the real life we are talking about and this is unacceptable whatever the profit or the success a festival may have....

it is unacceptable but i think it has to do only with the "support" that the island and the opposite side provided to the event.

You see, the island was trying to upgrade its touring profile... And supposed to have support from Alex/polis too as mayors of both places saying months before..! So, Alex/polis did everything they could in order not to see anyone from abroad again in the island!! WOW thats support! I will continue spend my time there as I do and its better for me if its not crowded of course, but i just cant hear from locals about tourism.

The only positive things happened to that rip off festival were the super sound system and the beautiful people who made the dance floor a colourfull playground.
All the rest was a big shame for the trance scene in Greece.
Teo and the rest of the Aurora team should be thrown to the bottom of the sea with a block of cement around their neck.... |

I think that the festival had all the potentials to be a great success !!!
Magical place, powerful-clear soundsystem, very nice deco to all stages and 3 years of experience by the Aurora organization... this is where I want to stand...
Unexpectable things occured before and during the festival... come on Aurora, you where supposed to carry 3 year of experience... and this has to do with festival policy and the security team... first of all, you should have started giving bracelets 5 days before the festival.... It wasn't a big deal to do that! you can't demand from people that live in the camp site for five-four days to leave their tents early in the morning without even having their morning coffee and let them get inside after so many hours to wear the bracelet... this is rude and shows no respect to the people!!! I was very frustrated about it and made a scene at the entrance...
Cops at the port and round the island (that made many many people not to come) as well as thiefs inside the camp created and non-good spirit-energy among the people... After 3 days I was afraid to leave my tent.... and this was floating everywhere...
Musicians that cancelled (for whatever reason this happened, there are explanations for everyone of them) was the last sip to the glass for everybody to start saying the worse about the organization and the whole team... but this is unfair for the people that worked so hard and in the end didn't get a single penny.... Imagine the feeling, doing a whole year all your best to make something real and in the end you get nothing and everybody wants your head...
Finally I didn't get why every time I was going to the bar the man with the pistol was scanning my card two times, hitting the price for the water f.e and another small amount of money... I didn't want to spoil my good feelings so I never asked !!!
Personally I had a good time with good friends, I have as many reasons to say that the fest was a failure as much to say that it was a good one...
You had very good elements but unfortunatelly the bad ones leave an awful taste...
I believe that Aurora had a great opportunity to make a big step forward, to be professional but now you are ten steps backwards and the ORGANIZER has all the responsibility about it... simply you can't be trusted anymore, this was your last chance and you lost it !!!

This country really does not have a single hope on making a serious festival happen and function correctly, let's deal with it.
Teo (head robber) should start ''organising'' parties for a different kind of people. Maybe he could invite artists like Lefteris Pantazis and Atzela Dimitriou.. I say this because this kind of people don't really care about dancing between undercover police dogs and ungry body builders.
Last, I dont believe that any of the organizers, that knew what will happen from before, are so stupid to be even a little proud of this festival. Shame on you. |
