I just think if this trading-bonanza lives on eventually there will be no music for us to enjoy.
And that would make me real sad.

Yes this has been talked of b4 but i must say something.
Napster and AG have kept me and I'm sure many others interseted in Psy. Most of the psy songs (90%) I dload off AG are garbage.
If i spent that much money on CD's only to get mostly crap I would have given up a long time ago. AG gave me what the radio and MTV give most people, A chance to listen to and be exposed to free, new music. The RIAA is not fighting for psy artists but for artists that already get there music played on MTV and radio - AG was my radio for psy.
I won't buy CD's unless its from artists I already know and like - which Id buy from with or without AG.
I think if you are an artist or want to be an artist, you should take into account that there will always be pirated music, weather it be thru cassette tapes or mp3's. If this is not something you can live with, then there might be something else you could do. Don't be a suergon if you don't like getting blood on yourself. Copied music is part of the business, and has been for 10's of years.
I surley don't think that the end of AG will mean the end of mp3 trading. But i don't think a lot of people understand that while it may restrict cd sales, it does help keep the scene going too.

the war agains P2P was lost from day 1.
since the web is a virtual space shuting down AG has no physical meaning, a new software is due 2 b in use because there is demend for the mp3 music.
IMHO the AG gives the trance a stage he rarely gets on other media, because trance is not mainstreem music. as we know publicity costs money, so i see it as some kind of a trade: yes, some people will download instead of buying the CD, but more people will b aware of this kind of music and buy the CD BECAUSE of the fact that they heard it on the AG.
in a way things gets even up.

This is not good. People will not start buy music if they haven't done that before, all that will happen is that the psyscene will grow smaller. Artists that were really small, cds that no longer are sold, AG was very good for them. Also genres that have died (like rave/hardcore and goa) was kept alive by AG.
If someone buys a record he/she hasn't heard, then I think that person is an idiot. I want to listen to the record first.
I am 17 yerars old, I go to school, the money I get is the money I get from my parents every month. Even if I bought CDs for all money I couldn't afford 1/10th of the psytrance out there. I buy what I can afford (and what I like best), the rest I download.
Probably WinMX and DC (if anyone know a good hub please tell me) will take over now.
So I have a reason I download music, when I have an income I will buy more, simple as that.

If you guys haven't noticed tons of trance artists have their music on MP3.COM
The bitrate used is sort of crappy so you hear the music quite well, but the sound is not crystal clear, and so if you like it, you buy it.
ps. It's all about the bitrate..

This is a sad day for freedom anywhere!!
Capitalist won for now, but not for long!
Its stupied to think AG make things bad for the trance scene, VICE VERSA !!!
It only helped it to grow and become what it is today , so stop bullshitin' yourself and see the truth as it is, NOt pure motives coused AG to shut down but pure greed and evil by some people,like the DUMB RIAA!!
Most artists only got famous thanx to AG, & we would never hear of many others unless AG existed!! Many peple around the globe cant buy, if its because they just dont have where, or if 'couse theu just dont have the $$ , Anyway it doesnt matter, AG allowed those to feel belong in the trance revolution , and not left behind, they also deserve it, and so today, it is a sad day for FREEDOM!
bUT, the fight has just begun, and RIAA, WELL, i wouldnt sleep well at night.... 
The battle is about to begin, and this time you are gonna be the ones who wish none of this would happen!

Dude it's a battle the record industry can't win.
See the new generation of p2p programs don't use servers, but they work straight from one people to another. So sue them.. so what? They have started something that can only be shutdown if all the people who use these programs uninstall them, and that's pretty unlikely to happen.
Sure it will take some time before someone writes a program that's about as simple to use that AG was, but believe me, it will happen in the next few months. And sure it will take some time before that program grows as big as AG was, but hey, that's sure to happen too.
So late us wait =)
