last couple of times I have tried I actually didn't like it anymore - overly melodic and cheeseballish

then again I never heard these tracks on the dancefloor back in the day and only got into trance music in 2003

Dancing Galaxy & Another World albums are stunningl to this day IMHO.

I can both chill out & get dancey to these albums. The kick & bass were amazing for the time, and the use of space to Creat such a deep floating feeling is amazing.

I also found their later full on quite good. I hope they put out an album, I don't care if it's same same or a bit full on. The best melody makers to date!!           Cuntus Maximus.

Quite liked Analogue Voyager and Dancing Galaxy. That's about it.
They had some moments of brilliance in some tracks, but the fluff was over the top for my tastes.

Full respect to them in any case.

Isn't taste funny? I mean Astral certainly has some high ed melodic work, which IMO is part of their success but for example MWNN has made me cringe cheese wise over the last 18 years. I cannot stand the level of cheese & if not the cheese I just find his work either original or remixes just so reprtitiveNd boring.

I'm seriously not wanting to start an argument, it's just an opinion.

I actually find MFG to have been the best to take the melodies but keep a slightly deeper psychedelic edge the sounds.           Cuntus Maximus.

I never liked anything by MFG. they were like borderline Nitzho, whilst I love most of MWNN's music.

But yeah, whatever floats people's boats innit.

Making good melodies has alwaqys apperead more hard to me, and even more hard a balance between melody and good psy.

I don't why but we even get cheesy stuff or no melody at all.

I guess I grew up with an older brother who loved happy hardcore. It was all I listened to for 5 years. So I guess comparatively nothing in this scene comes close to those 5 years of cheese.

And I am biased as the track that changed my life was MWNN - Sly Ed when I heard it on my first outdoor party in 1994.

Nothing was the same after that.

When i listen to Astral i usually never think of cheese or fullon or whatever, i just listen and enjoy the good times. I think its pretty much the only artist i listen to in that kind of way. Not analyzing shit, just listening to the music.

They had their moments, and today I can appreciate those moments, cos they were part of what I loved in this music and pursue with interest and, what makes me have the taste I have today.

(and I totally understand what Nectarios is saying about the diff between MFG/nitzho and AP. I liked them both though. But then again I never got nitzho shoved at me like it was in Greece, from what I've heard. As for me, I had some good feelings in side with that For the People track by whats his name back in the day and I appreciate those feelings today. Helped me find some happiness, which is always a plus.)

Just out of curiosity what is your cup of tea? I mean the free compilation via H&H on Ektoplazm heads more in to as litho psychedelic perspective of modern techno but has very little to do with actually trace music (btw it's a great release thanks).

Do you actually listen to any Goa or Psy trance? I mean you pay out on anything "dark" & you don't like AP style grid.

I'm just curious as to what actual Goa or psy trance you like other than prog & tech stuff?           Cuntus Maximus.
