yeah maddan- if you don't have a bike, you will only be able to see 5% of the entire place at best....that is unless you make it a mission to hop on every art car you see!

I'm just not a bike person, and I don't have a bike or a car (to get the bike there) for that matter. I skate. Is it possible/done to skateboard around the playa on a special board with rubber off-road tires? with the surface of the earth, is it Practical? are there any desert skate crews that you've seen before?

I am having this vision of building a fractadelic oversized desert board.

i wish it hadn't become so big and full of people that you needed transport - but I'm going! and i have a feeling that the trance is gonna burrrrn this year!

hmmm... the more freaks, the merrier, no?

about your board - i'd find out the state of the playa first. some years it's totally flat, and some years it's rough. depends on the rainfall.

@B from T,
i'm bringing my longboard made out of a water ski, and its only got street wheels.
i mean, it might be impossble to ride it, and if it rains, everyone is screwed esp.bikes as the mud just stacks up on the tires, etc.

but you should totally build your board and bring it. there are so many like motorized scooters, couches, golf carts, etc. you can either hitch a ride or get a tow, yo!

For all ya skater-headz, read this... it may change in the next 6 weeks, of course, but this is the state of the playa a week or two ago. keep checking bbs.burningman.com for updates and such. sorry about the format.

I'm going for the long weekend, and will be playing at various camps - whoever invites me - and I spin full-on, "happy dark" funky, super danceable psy trance.

I'll be there Thurs-Mon and hanging mostly at Nuclear Family.

It's my first time going. There's a "BM First Timer Primer" on www.burningman.com - it is a MUST READ for all newbies! Especially read the stuff about managing grey water - not even your toothpaste spit is allowed on the ground! DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you go, so that you will get the most enjoyment out of your first BM experience.

I'll reiterate a point already made here: if you're thinking of going to BM just for Psytrance, you'll be better off somewhere like Boom festival, and probably for about the same amount of cash as it takes to do BM properly.

But if you want to see all manner of human creativity, meet all kinds of interesting, wacky, beautiful people, experience a sense of true freedom from the prison of 'normality' and do some radical self-expressing, go to BM. Granted, it's different from what it "used to be", but things evolve, and it's still a one-of-a-kind cathartic event that's guaranteed to blow your mind, as long as your mind is open to it.

So we're going to see you there DiMi?

I'm hoping to hook into a couple of PA's, especially at night. Not sure what's happening with the SF crew. Any word?

Burning Man contains the deep spirit (mindfullness of EVERYTHING) that many "old-timer" trancers seem to pine about. The diversity is beyond anything you'll ever encounter, yes, we even have Reno rednecks, god bless 'em. Plus we got acid heads from the 60's too. There's quite a bit psy-trance around, compared to any other festival (music or otherwise) in US, much more. If you're a psy-trancer. it's worth checking out at least once. Your black-tee with flouro space-tribe wear will look like a business suit there.

The PsyTribe gang from LA is going to be there too so there will be no lack of psytrance in that camp           Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity...

there's a chance I'm going.. just have to convince my boss.

I'd like to find some more places to throw down, too. But if all goes according to plan, I'll be the resident DJ on the 'Ibus', so if you see a huge schoolbus with a giant video screen eye thingy mounted on top, jump on!
