And then they write the same track again and again? In my view a 'consistent style and sound' is a reflection of the artist failing to push themselves creatively and settling for the easy option time after time. There is an infinite number of 'combination of sounds that most perfectly fills there souls feeling' but most people just stick with the first one they find.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Yeah some artists sounds are the first one they find but i am not talking about these kind of artist. I am talking about artist who work a long time on there sound man, real artist who look for there own expression and no one else's...Artist who work from the hearth.           Boom :)

thats what im saying - as an act i know its easy to keep producing same style and sound ( a winning formula ) but at the same time as an artist you feel the desire to make a broad spectrum of sounds you like and feel you want to push... but is it possible to do that, under the same project name, as well as having the marketability in terms of gigs... kinda having your cake and eating it... if so - im trying to pinpoint just out of curiousity what recognizable acts have done this...

i feel infected possibly, ranging from the sound they created in the beginning to what they are pushing now...

or a recent example would be koxbox.. the sound they pushed in the earlier days is different to what is done by them now... (although the side proj. saikopod)

So is it an evolution thing? you make what sounds good to you and you evolve according to demand and according to your mind and ears?

Man you make what you like or else you don't make! I think if you stick to what's good today formula you will never be fully satisfied with your music!Just look at the chillout for christ sake it's so much much more than psytrance right now! I mean if that does not effect you then what does?

From the hearth means beautiful, eternal music! A combination which you only can make and no other!

          Boom :)

SK - im a graphic designer and one thing i've learnt in this industry is that making on cd covers and flyers dont put food on the table... so what im driving to do is be able to create music, open, but still within the confines of what is appealing trance. we never make millions from trance sure.,. but to be able to make an extra income, opportunity to travel as well as a form expression is what sum strive for.

So the point is really whether one can produce a variety of style under one project name - its a matter of opinion.. im interested to see what uthers think.

Regardless music will be made, no doubt... and its not gonna be R&B thats for sure... as for music from the heart is beautiful... for sure - you said it.

The listening public love lots of variety in their music; we recently played a live set at London's largest psy party (Synergy Project) and they presold more tickets than for any other Synergy - there was a HUGE range of music there of which our varied little liveset was only a part. The main people who need convincing are the promoters (especially outside the UK, I'd say) as music that doesn't fit in a single little descriptive box seems to scare them.

Check the Free Range link in my signature to hear the sort of variety we're putting in our music at the moment.          Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

This is what many strive for mate, few strive for making something new only who really loves and feels the music looks for something new. Others just look for happiness in fame, money, girls, things which are nothing compared to a real working dancefloor.

Very few people work for making a dancefloor work as it should, very few people study how to take people on a higher level of conciousness through the music that they make. Unfortunately though!

I say there will always be commercial music ok, but we need some space for people like us! People who love spiritual enhancements through music and psychedelic! Why not you know! Anyway i think an artist would be much more happy if he works more on the music and gets a real better result and release it in time when he is satisfied with it and when he feels it is something new! I think the harder you strive the better the music, the happier you are!

          Boom :)
