Has anyone ever noticed..
Artists are supposed to play "Live Set"
and they play other artist music!
How it can be a live set if they are not even playing thier own music?

what !!!!! :s
what are you guys talking about ?

maybe it was just remixes of other ppl tracks or something, i never seen that happend.           Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win.

what?! you mean that live sets are not real in the scene across the globe? That means that artists are not really doing more but playing from CDs mostly all through their live sets ? And letting party folks to pay more - to make some extra cash? is this possible?

yes.

but i gotta mention it was all talked about in 3 threads at least           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

hehehe

its all just fake

but maybe if ppl would buy cd's instead of DL music, artists would have more money and it would result in more free time, wich would result in maybe real live sets, dont you guys think???           Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win.

when i play live i use abelton live... and my songs in wave, and i sync my hardware to the wave files, and then i make fx and twisted leads over my music

that is the "most live" live set i can make with my shit           www.myspace.com/psypox

i play live set with ableton also and with my controller i mix my own tracks, and i add some twisted melodies from my softsynths and drum loops that i have made by myself, but i`ve seen people in gigs that really say its a live set and just play their latest album in cubase and eq on mixer or just play some tracks from them and the killer tracks are unreleased from other artists.. but thats a shame, and they must feel bad with themselves...
at least if they have some brain and conscience left

I know for sure, and I won't mention names, that some artist say they will when they are asked, yet choose not to when it comes down to it.

I've heard of,"oh, I forgot a special wire I need and you won't be able to find it here anywhere" as well as many others, yet they are paid to play live. And the difference in price between live and DJ is usually pretty different.

So, to the artists that are honest and respect their faithful, my hat's off to you.....To the rest, just say you only DJ, please.           assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

Well i think it's better if a few artists mention how they play live and what all do they include while playing a live set, midi keyboars fx etc etc.

should be good then           Music is my Drug

yeah i`ve seen that some artists, even if they are playing "their" tunes, their tunes are made by someone else, and they even need someone to be EQ`ing the mixer all through their set... and ask for incredible stash of gear for only push play to their upcoming cd (or worse) to their last released and not moving a single knob on anything they asked for....
thats a shame really

this thread is really a good oportunity to say to all of em "DO YOU THINK WE ARE STUPID OR WHAT???"

cheers

I think more than half of the people who says they do a live set ,they actually do mix the tracks only (yes also people using live do that. And no you dont call it a live set ;-)
Pushing a button or moving a crossfader is not a live set!
I saw artists using cubaseand calling it live set.what the heck.
Cubase is not enough stable for a live set!

And synths triggered by a sequencer dont make a live set neither.

Well as i see it, it seems that a live set can be everything from doing nothing , to playing as much live as possible, I got 2 examples for this.

1. When we play live "Vegetal vs peacespect" we use live guitars, live mixing with cd: s,many tracks has been re-mixed whith synth leads cut out and replaced by the guitar during the live-set. For software we use ableton and reason togheter for playing samples and vst synths. Reason is mostly used since it does not use to much perfomance and sounds really great, Ableton is used with guitarrig for simulating the guitaramplifier.

the second example of "live" perfomance
A guy who played after us on a party called dragondust in stockholm, had everything premixed in ableton and used a midi-synth which didn´t even work with the laptop, -to make it look "live" ,as he said to me. So basicly what he did during this 1.30 hours was turning the EQ knobs on the pioneer mixer and playing on a synth which didn´t even work.

I think the party-organisers should start asking the artist what they get when booking them, instead of just booking them because they have a well known name in the scene.

Man... in São Paulo (Brazil), when 1200 Mics played a LIVE set, a microphone just fell on the floor and, NO NOISE WAS MADE! Can anyone explain this?
