most funny i saw .. was some "live" act with no midi or cv cable to connect the sampler and keybord ...
at this point i call it : playback !!!!
but it's possible to do live set ..
i do also sound egenering in party... and i saw that 80% of "live act" only press start on their laptop .. and then do playback looking their laptop playing a prerecorded set ! it's sucking ...
cause it's possible to do real live .. check for exemple the peaking godess collective (peak rec) this guys are fully live, with machines, guitar, bass, flute ,....
This week end i play after LUNASPICe .. it was live .. and these french guys really rock the floor !!

hello there isratrance fellas,
its a nice topic you got here

we, as megalopsy, prepare our live set very carefully before playing, we've been using ableton live for a while now and i must say we are really happy with it,...

ill tell you how it basically works:
first, we choose which lines or fx will be played during the live, we remove them from the mixes and start practising them.

our live triggering units consist in 2 maudio keyboards, an electric guitar with a roland gi interface (which translates guitar notes 2 midi) and lately we've been experimenting with a flight simulation joystick (pretty fun i must say for x/y modulation).

also, we split the tracks into different waves so they can be modulated individually and also sent to the mixing console.

it would be also cool to implement some percusion with electronic pads or sumthing, that would be very cool

well thats all i've got to say
see you soon!

z1P^ - Cool dude...Anyone who would get an opportunity to see you play live, would definitely get something unique and special everytime you play, so my hats off to you....

As far as the one's who excuse why they don't: If you're one person, it's understandable that you don't play completly live....If you can only play the guitar, or actually play the melodies on your keyboard while the computer does the rest, that's fine..I consider that live..

Some Acts I know when I saw them, played Live, in my opinion:

Sun Project, XDream, Tim Schuldt, GMS, Cosmosis and the best was TOTAL ECLIPSE (one guy played all of the percussion on a small drumpad. It was amazing in itself to watch him do that and totally feed off the crowd's energy).....and there are others. But some, just sit up there and do nothing, but act as if they are amazing. The real sad thing is if you are paying them to play live, the least they could do is DJ, but some don't even do that.           assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

I saw a show once that was actually really played live… forgive me the artists coz I don’t really remember their names… it was really long time a go. I think it was Electric Universe or maybe their name was Unary Universe, don’t know but something with Universe that’s for sure (they were Israel’s). It was in the Bombomela festival (2000 or 2001 maybe). But the name doesn’t really matters, what important was that it was really interesting experience coz they played live and you could see it!
They were 3 guys: one guy played Ibanez electric guitar for the whole show for about 2 hours (!) adds a beautiful background warm sound layer (not –too distorted like Skazi style), he used BOSS multiple effects ME-33, another guy was in charge of the kick and bass section which was played live as well and not played from a cd! He were using Bass line TB-303 and two more processors that I didn’t saw them clearly to say what they were. All connected to a virtual mixer. The third guy was also in charge on synth section and other effects, don’t remember what he used.

After that show I started to believe that playing trance music live IS possible (!) with the right equipment.

Bom!

ok lets put it this way to all the normal ppl, who arent music geeks like us and dont understand the things like midi, sync, abelton, virtual mixers, loops, etc......

If artists after gig:
sweets = real live set
dry = fake live set

PS: these rules dont apply in Bresil or Mexico, to hot and to many hot chicks, hehe           Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win.

Maybe all the crowd can not know this but people with musical background or into this kinds of stuff do know.. so dont try too bullshit ok           https://www.djjeto.com

WTF?! What stupidity by Astrix! But believe me I’m not surprise at all… well... maybe from the low level he has gotten now hahah
Anyway, did you hear (Jeto) maybe how Sun project’s live show built from?
