Are You Shpongled vs Tales Of The Inexpressible

So which one do you prefer and why? I honestly can't chose for in my opinion they are very different, but yet both perfect in their own unique way.
So to me it's a tie.

ok ok
@ the moment i would probably have to pick "are you shpongled" because it has that shaman/magic/alien/space/mystic feeling all over the place..

tales definatly ....what`s your "are you shpongled" shaman/magic/alien/space/mystic feeling all over the place ....that`s exactly my feeling about tales

what i ment by the shaman/magic/alien/space/mystic is that "are you shpongled" has that vibe that can also be found from the yeti series, space ship of imagination and some old tip releases..
it's all "gone" in tales imo.. tales is a lot brighter/mainstream/something..

i don`t know traveller ....guess it`s just individual music taste ..and how you see/hear things .....i can`t compare "are you shpongled" with "tales....." ...for me tales is much better (and mature) album ..mix of lot of influenced world music ...i like that .....somebody (you, for example) will disagree with me ..somebody will agree ...that`s it ....

i find it that most people fall in love with tales of the inxepressible a lot easier than are you shpongled
it's just somehow a lot easier to approach or something..
when i first heard are you shpongled i didn't like it at all.. however i just kept on listening to it and when i was thru like the 10th time i was madly in love with it..
when i heard tales of the inexpressible the first time i pretty much hated it.. i actually wrote email to simon and said something like: "well i'm now half way thru downloading the new shpongle album and i've gotta say that i like the first one a lot more" ..he later on replied something like "nice atfirst you say you steal from me and then you say you don't even like it" ..but that's another story..
it's not like i didn't like the album musically but it just wasn't anything what i was expecting it to be.. are you shpongled like that is..
where are you shpongled is crystal clear and yet so distorted tales of the inexpressible is just catchy.. where are you shpongled is just magical/shaman/mystic/alien tales of the inexpressible is just another salsa/latin meets electronic world
then again i just simply love tales of the inexpressible..
but i've noticed that pretty much all non trancer friends of mine really dig tales of the inexpressible but can't stand are you shpongled..

the first album is just deeper, and more for those mental trips alone, lying in your bed, with nice headphones on. the second album is way more accessible, but it also has perfect tracks like "Around The World..". i have used Tales as background music at live comedy shows, and everyone gets their feet tapping. plus, Tales has more 4/4 kickdrum dancey moments.
they're just for different situations. |

I like both but i must agree with traveller...
The first album I LOVE... and it is way more psychedelic than the second.. but thats just my opinion! |

I also agree with you traveller.
The first album is like a Shpongle roots album I could say, he tried to inovate too much on the 2nd album. Even thou ppl could complain if he remained with the same-o...
Tales of the inexpressible have two of brazilian samples I guess.
- Star shpongled Banner, on the 6 to 7th minute afaik there´s a sample from "danca do vampiro", a popular brazilian "axe´" music that plays like 10x a day on the radios huahauahua, funny, if not annoying...
- In the beggining of Shpongleyes there´s a melody. That melody is played every time a truck with gas (LGP) is in the neighborhood =). Killer, I lol when I heard it.
- My head feels like a frisbee is the salsa one. Very latin and weird shit, but a cool music.
It´s a new, fun, and original album, but we can´t compare it with Are you Shpongled? psychedelic impact. It´s way more deep than tales of the inexpressibe, which is a more "digestible" album.

Same here.
"Are you Sphongled" was my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tales never made it to lunch.
I can not compare the two, "Are you Sphongled" is a mindblowing psychedelic masterpiece, in my opinion . Tales... is just another CD I own.

Well it's not that simple for me..
some days i prefer tales.. some days i prefer are you shpongled..
but are you shpongled is imho way more psychedelic..
