Funny. I felt the twist from Spiral tracks and Midium started all this return to the progressive sound to redefine trance and take it in a complete new direction. Iboga followed + others I would have to dig out. Goa trance was clearly rooted in sounds from early Platipus, EyeQ, Harthouse, Frankfurt beat... but @ the time we had MWNN making what was then a clear progressive sound. IMHO Trance as music and genre diversity has always remain constant. Semsis, Menis, Technossomy, Darshan were the Para halu, grapes etc. Now the great difference IMHO is technology facilitating imaginary soundscapes with outstanding definition.

What about artists like Human Blue and/or certain Double Dragon tracks?

I would consider them continuants of the "progressive" sound.

NOT THAT PROGRESSIVE IS A BAD THING. Just another spoke in the trance wheel.

IMHO, anyway...

No one mentioned SEGMENT, one of my favorite acts.           Live for the journey, not the destination.
