ha ha, kaz, you sound like a bitter old man! i imagine you're too young to be a bitter old man yet

I'm not bitter - I just don't like people who don't admit that they just wanna have a good and slightly illegal time, so they want to say that they're promoting peace, love and whatever. You want to promote peace? Go to a neighboring country and help out their needy, join some humanitarian organization, fight against racism, don't promote nationalism in the name of patriotism, and so on and so on. Want to promote love? Get a girlfriend . Going to a psytrance party has nothing to do with this, and (drum roll please... dadadadadadadadadadadadadadada) that's what was asked in this thread so I answered.

Learn to understand context, you sound like a total dick... no age limit on that at all           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

touche!

so as to eliminate any confusion, my intentions are not hostile in any way.

my absurd comments were more of a commentary on this absurd and unanswerable question about peace and love and egos. point being - as kaz points out - actions speak louder than words.
if you have questions about who you *are*, look no further than what you *do*

The way I see it is this:
Psytrance parties in and of themselves do not do anything to promote peace in the world (except perhaps by giving people a nonviolent emotional outlet, of which many are available).
However they could. If we collectively decided to make it so. Because the psy scene is so international, and there are so many interlocking social connections that spread throughout the world via the trance scene, the trance scene could become a powerful way to organize and focus political action. Civil disobedience actions could be coordinated on a massive scale.
We could make a difference, but we choose not to.

BTW: I do not think that talking about peace and love is a callous way to hide hedonism. Most people do sincerely want peace and love in the world but do not think they can make a difference, or dont have any idea how, and so don't even try.

Also drugs and trance music do have real spiritual roots. Unfortunatly in it's present from the trance scene does not treat the sacredness of the trance-dance state of consciousness or psychedelic states of consciousness with the proper respect required to grow from them.
Why would so many cultures treat the drum as a sacred instrument capable of facillitating soul flight and spirit posession?
Getting serious about this aspect and studying cultures that use the drum for healing purposes might help us with the whole peace and love thing IMO.
