We still bathe on occasion (at least most of us), so I think that makes us *not* hippies.

Although I actually used to make my own tie-dyed stuff when I was 19 or 20....scary.

we are new age hippies, not hippies so bathing apply to us!           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

If everybody would have the same mentality during the week as they have at the party in the weekend, maybe in some ways yeah... A lot of people live the dream during the weekend but start forgetting what it's all about as soon as they're in/past their come down.

everything you mentioned has more to do with (avoiding) fashion than way of thinking... i do believe the way of thinking still exists (in it's own lazy way).          www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. For me, its all nice to go to a gathering, feeling a part of a community who shares various things, dance in the nature, bath in the sea or rivers, wear confortable clothes(without people staring at you as you are an alien) staying away from the modern polluted industrilized cities at least for a while. than after a couple of days later, I really feel sad to go back to daily life and always remember the good old days

I'm probably somewhere between a hippy and a punk. A healthy mix. I'm glad to say I've never worn tie-dye. I'm pretty much outside the system, not a f***ing weekend zany. Have stopped following the party circuit though.

And 'new-age'... The less of that the better.           "One nation under a groove".

Oh, I'm a yuppie, definitely. No chance of confusing me with a hippie, ever. There are enough forum members who can vouch for me

I can see some resemblance to hippie culture, but not in clothing or drug (ab)use, but in attitude towards life and other people. I think the trance culture is a tollerant one, a welcoming one, and an optimistic one - all characteristics of the so-called hippie ppl AFAIK.

btw, isn't not-bathing against the GuideLines?

maybe we are technology-aware hippies => tippies...
and since your body is technology also we like to maintain it more than hippies...

i like that, tippies. i guess it means we exist in the now, try to embrace some of what they(normal society) has created but weed(nopunintended) out all the shit that goes along with it.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

hip·pie also hip·py ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hp)
n. pl. hip·pies
A person who opposes and rejects many of the conventional standards and customs of society, especially one who advocates extreme liberalism in sociopolitical attitudes and lifestyles.

I guess in this sense we are not hippies cause one of the most conventional standard that was rejected by hippies was big corporation - since most of us work as engineers, lawyers etc etc - that means we are not counter culture hence we are not hippies - although when it comes to partying we are counter culture (Nothing about a trance party is conventional to society) - so I guess you could say we are yuppie yet doppie hippies

Just took a shower I absolutely love to dance barefoot on festivals, don't have dreadlocks but I do have long curly hair which is very tangled and sometimes it can look like I do have them...but I would never make them coz you can't wash your hair properly and worms can nest inside them and stuff           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

Digital hippies?
Designer crusties?
Pseudo hippy trash?

Some of my favourites.

By the way, you can wash your hair properly with dreads, that's a myth. They need proper care taking of them or get a bit skanky, just like normal hair.           "One nation under a groove".
