I always thought that the online shops buy it from you in bulk and then sell it on at a profit. Why else would you allow the shops to have copies of your album though if they don't pay you anything?

You got everything right except replace the word "you" every time you see it with "the label". Then understand that I do not own and have nothing to do with running "the label". Nor have I ever been signed to any label. I merely license my work and negotiate deals in my best interest.

I'm trying to get what I can despite the odds of working against 22 (and counting) google pages of illegal torrent links for "entheomythic" alone. It has truly only been available to the public for less than a month. I made sure of that. This is why I don't send promos out anymore.

Tyler, it has nothing to do with promo's send out there..although it might not help, I admit!
I have using "Goggle Alerts" on Altar Records and Dj Zen keywords for months and at everyday there's numerous pages popping up with my releases to direct links with free Flac and 320k mp3 d/l offered to anyone having a simple internet connection.
The only thing I can do is registering to post on all these and say that we're existing for real with my artists and we need support.So I put a link to my website and a smiley.
What else to do? nothing I'm afraid.Because the same day something is released in the music industry , the pirate links are starting to exist...If you have counted 22 links to your album since one month you are lucky, this is not much!  |

Zen, did you actually read what I wrote? I said 22 PAGES of links and I stopped wanting to count after that. I wasn't counting actual links. I'm counting PAGES that are top to bottom with a different torrent website link. I would say there are easily hundreds of different torrents distributing this album right now.
Putting out promos before the release ensures that they will get a head start on pirating it so it DOES help, in my opinion, despite anything you say.
But, again, I thank you for ALL of your direct support you have shown me. I do know that you sincerely care about my work.

Grrr... customs has been a real problem lately it seems. I've had a couple people in the UK claim delays as well. In fact, one guy, who pre-ordrered still hadn't received his so I dispatched him a new package and just yesterday the first one finally showed up. I definitely have receipts but found nothing can be done on international shipments without paying for delivery confirmation, which sadly I didn't, because I didn't charge people for it and didn't want to eat the cost. I'm poor enough as is. I'm not going to be hasty, but if a duration passes that in unjust, I will definitely have to send you more and eat the loss.
It was probably a very bad idea to send stuff out around the holidays. Never again.

Well in Canada when we send out packages, we get back a receipt from our "small packet" with a declaration on the contents and its value.
After a while if the package has not arrived, we can call the postal service center and they are refunding the sender after the full declared amount.
it usually takes 2-3 weeks, after they have investigated to the postal counter where the package should arrived.
It happened to me recently when I sent out a package in USA, it ended to be found lost so I had a full refund back.Therefore I could resend the same package at no cost.I hope you have the same service.
I believe it is because of the holidays too.I'll be patient until end of January.Thanks. |
