Well, the US is indeed starting to pick up steam... A majority of the artists are out of the SF bay area, but there are some artists from the east coast and in the South and Midwest as well... There is at least one artist for each of the substyles.

Start checking out the North American forum and you will start seeing some of the artists that are from the states... Here's a rough list of the artists here in the US and there are always more coming up...

Fractal Cowboys (Quasar & Dylalien)- SF, CA
Initialization String - Dallas, TX (unreleased)
Cyzum - Washington DC (I think)
Deeper In Zen - SF
Ghreg on Earth - SF
Pr0teus - Seattle, WA
Manifest - Portland, OR (unreleased artist)
Mental Alien - SF (part of the infidels)
Onnomon - Philadelphia, PA
BodhiSattva 13:20 (aka Celium) San Diego, CA
Random - SF
Chromatone - SF
Helios - SF
Ocelot - SF
Yohimbe - SF
Quadra - Was Los Angeles (now in Israel)
Frequency Deluxe - Los Angeles
Patchbay - San Diego (Unreleased)
The Bastard - North Carolina (Unreleased)
The Lost Baba - North Carolina (Unreleased)
Aeon - Santa Cruz, CA (unreleased)
*Christine* - Santa Cruz, CA (unreleased)
Mubali (me) - Marina, CA
Jirah - Seattle (no longer active) I really liked this guy's stuff...
Amanda - SF
Penta - SF (now in Europe)
The Nommos - SF (Goa Gil and Arianne based in SF, but travels the world)
Vibra - NY ( I think lives now in Brazil)

And as an interesting Note.. Mechanikka, CPU & Siriusissnes were all part of the same group Biodegradable out of SF... They all moved to different countries and started their solo projects... I still remember the wild parties at their warehouse... Good old (new) ccc days...

Here's a link to the forums stats of released US artists
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewusers.php?country=USA&rank=10

I know I have probably forgotten a few other artists as well (damn stonerbrain) but I think that this year is a huge year for US artists as a whole... Many more are crawling out of the woodwork and giving their on interpretation of the sound to the world...

I think the scene here IS growing....I've seen some amazing parties out here lately, with many more scheduled to come this summer and beyond!

Also, I've noticed more record labels springing up....

also to add to the list:
Psytrip (LA)
Prophei (LA)
Psychoid (LA)
Dancing Soma (SD)

nice try, Mubz

Hey, I just wanted to add that the new dark SF psy scene spearheaded by the Mistresses of Evil are what is going to make people talk about US trance.

All homegrown, all crazy, psychotic would-be murderers making sick twisted tunes: quasar, dylalien, ghreg (my favorite), vous deux, ocelot, and all the ones mentioned beforehand...

Also mubali, why do say that jirah is no longer active?

Anything American but not dark or not intense?
Except for Jirah ofcourse?
Or do you like only the twisted night sounds?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Have you listened to Chromatone and Random before Pavel??? I wouldn't consider that quite twisted night time stuff... Onnomon makes really tribal progressive type stuff, Pr0teus makes funky morningish stuff, The bastard and Lost Baba make goa inspired stuff, Aeon and Christine both make the morning side of stuff as well... As does Helios Did you listen to the Vaporvent compilation Vaporize? I wouldn't call that really dark at all. It's a great compilation, but not very dark....

Pretty much all of the us artists make powerful music, we don't believe in (pardon the phrase) limp wristed psytrance.... I personally think that it's a biproduct of our nation as a whole... when we express ourselves, you get the full torrent, usually whether you like it or not...
