There was an attempt to put on Thursday parties with variated electronic music from prog.trance/house, electro, chill to psy in Denmark a few months back. And with an impressive international Line-Up.
But people simply did not show up even though it started at 6pm and ended at midnight.

It's all to do with that way too many people in this little scene of ours are long time druggies who need their trips. e's and coke to be able to enjoy the music. sad but the reality.

People have forgot how to enjoy the music for the music's sake and wont go to anything if they cant get on a 24 hour trip with a few after parties to consume the rest of their weekend doze.

It's annoying because most of the time the first 3 hours of the show is some warmup DJs you dont even want to hear.

Ehmm... Keep in my mind that EVERY of the big names you may like started less or more like this..

I'll go further, sometimes those warm-up deejays are doing their thing with more passion and spontaneity than your beloved "established artists".. and therefore i have sometimes had even more fun in those "3 hours" than the rest of the party, in my life..

Yeah I know, I'm an amatuer DJ too. Im talking about when they suck. Like when they don;t even play psytrance or anything close to it at a psytrance party.           no sig

Usually if it's during the week, if it ends after 2 in the morning, I probably will not be there. I work at 9 am and usually have to be functional for work. Occasionally I might grin and bear it if I have to play or something and the place isn't too far away, but I usually am never available to go out during the week. Just remember that if you really want to see an artist bad enough, you can make the sacrafices neccesary to see said artist. I used to inform my work way ahead of time to let them know that either I would be taking the day off the day following that show, or not to expect too much work from me on the following day.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I remember back in late 90's there was this pub called "Chillout" in Tel-Aviv, they would open around 18:00 playing some chillout music then around 22:00 me & other Dj's/Friends would start playing some more progressive tunes till what they call the Last Costumer Leaves. It was a really small place for mostly locals and friends and it was really cool, you'd come and meet friends, chat for a bit have a few drinks and listen to groovy music.

So even if I had work next morning i might go for a swift one to catch up with some friends or just listen to lovely music, sometimes i'd hang about till the beautifull sunrise came up
The place closed down a couple of years after... R.I.P

these days i love to have a day off after a big long party...
I think it is part of getting old...

Which IM show did you go to? There were 2 shows one on the 21st and the 22nd. One was on a thursday and the other on a Friday. I personally could care less about that show because IMHO it was nothing like a psy trance party. I had no expectations, just wanted to see my friends. I thought everyone would be ready for this. Also shows like this come every so often here in FL. Why didn't you take the day off? Everyone did.

I would really understand if we were in Brasil, UK, Germany, Australia... even SF But here in FL we do not have any events. One every three months. I play here and there, since i have not made a party in ions. JUst waiting to see if someone has the balls to do not just one event, but a huge string of them. I do not mind helping.

Of course if I see a bunch of bitching and no events, I will save money, get a space and throw a party myself.

that pretty much sums it all up!

and well the begining 3 hours or so when a loacal dj plays..as long as its psy its totally fine..but at other times..well the orgs wanna make money so if there is more than one genre music at the party..obviously better crowd...thats all !
