pondi's a good idea ...
but you cant call any of there places "the new goa"
these can all be new party locations (very very welcomed)...
but how can there be another goa !!!
for that you gotta have the history ... |

Nothing can ever replace Goa & its old vibe. It has & will always be special to those who saw it during the days it crawled out of its shell

a few suggestions even if they dont follow the strict criterias i can assure you this is what you are looking for.....::
byron bay - a little expensive/commercial but...
South Floripa (brazil)- a few communities there living on lonely beaches...perfect life...goa parties close by!
san pedro de atitlan......already been highlighted....but did anyone specify there is good charras (ice/ cream) also there??!!.....bingo!
mazunte and zipolite in mexico super.!!.....definetely worth a visit!
marocco is also good.....
cambodia is on......but i think it got hit too hard by the tourist wave...!
sardinia (italy)- baia della luna-(bay of the moon) in the northern part......a small community where parties etc....and the best seaside of all...no palm trees just pure mediterrenean beuty!
and prob many more.....
but as everyone said....goa is unique!no alternatives....just something else!
aum namah shivaya!

Some years have passed since the previous post:) The list may need updating:
1. Cambodia
2. San Pedro Atitlan (Guatemala)
3. Byron Bay (Australia)
4. Tulum in the Mayan Riviera (Mexico)
5. Zipolite/Mazunte area in Oaxaca (Mexico)
6. Coast of Alentejo (Portugal)
7. Azores (Portugal)
8. Bali (Indonesia)
9. Arraial da Ajuda, Trancoso, Caraiva (Brasil)
10. Gili islands (Indonesia)
11. El nido, Palawan (Philippines)
12. South Floripa (Brasil)
13. Marocco
Any comments / suggestions?
For example, parties scene is growing noticeably in XYZ?

I don't think there is a strong psyscene in all of these places.
1 Cambodia is small scene.
2 San pedro also really small scene
3 Byron bay. Bigger scene, should be nice for sure.
4 Tulum is a nice place but definitely not a psytrance hot spot.
5 Zipolite en Mazunte same as Tulum.
6 dont know
7 dont know
8 bali should be nice and I heard there are still some nice things happening.
9 dont know
10 same as bali.
11 don't know
12 don't know but I can't imagine you can do whatever you like like you could in goa.
13 don't know

I can confirm that, although I must stress that I haven't been around the world (yet).
This place is heaven...even if you take out the parties, the energy and the inspiration I get here, I have felt nowhere else in the world...and then again there are the parties....they go on for over 12hours, going well late into the night, to the early morning hours sometimes.
The freedom I feel here, I have never felt anywhere else.
I love Goa <3

That's exactly my experience, and one more thing, yes, it's different now than it was in the 80s or 90s, and yet it is the same, because of an underlying current that is always there. The time changes, but something about every place always remains the same, a certain kind of fragrance, and it is different in each place!
