Welcome to the alternative music thread...

A thread made by me since i do believe 100% trance 365 a year aint healthy, well healthy might not be the right word but i always try to keep myself on the edge listening to some rnb / chill / trip hop / even rock if i feel like it...

This helps me keep track in trance, Helps me get perspective on how much i realy do appreciate trance music both at home and on the floor... I would never ever try to unleash my digging shoes to a hip-hop track... but i do enjoy listening to it while at home...

I am not talking about any hiphop out there... There are a few selected ones..

At the moment i truly love a few tracks from a few of the hot shots out there procuding "alternative" music...

The first one is 50 cent - many men... This guy has been doing some serious shit in his life, which this track is all about...

Many men want him dead and he is sharing it with us, listen to it and forget about his ego tripping chorus´s and phrases... try to remove the vocals and listen to the groove... this is high class...

The second one is Outkast - 2 dope boys in a caddilac...

Again remove the words "bitches" "smoke gendish" "biatch" "fuck" "motherfucker" and all that obligatory bullshitting... and listen to the beat again... Listening to alternative music will help u alot...

And a 3rd tip...
If u listen 100% to full-on and psy try buying a proggressive cd to get the whole perspective of what trance is realy about, its realy hard to get a compilation presenting wht wide range of each genre but still it helps...

and of course do the same if u only listen to proggressive music..

And it realy helps not to buy the usual stuff from the usual labels but try to find the pearls from the little labels whos actually still doing it for the fun and vibe...

I love u all..

Peace..

Anders...

i respect your idea for this thread Andres but i have a thought on your opinion of 50cent, and i dont mean to sound unpollite or rude, but sure the song is nice an all but i dont think he deserves respect for all the shit he's been through when who really knows what it is he's been through except what he says in this song or what may have been said on mtv. many men may want him dead and they may have a good reason, maybe he's a fucked up cat. i myself have never been a fan of ego rap and 50, music that is only alive because its all about the money. but there is plenty of rap and r&b that i have enjoyed for the beats and riffs they use. how about Pharrel and the neptunes, i think they are quite genius for there genre.

Anders, the whole point of rap is the lyrics...
i recommend listening to rap and carefully understanding the lyrics...

rap - 1. A talk, conversation, or discussion.
2. To discuss freely and at length.

i dont have a problem with the lyrics of it... thats the whole attraction in my opinion.

for diversity - i recommend listening to some psyrock-

Ozric Tentacles is a great choice, so is older stuff from the Grateful Dead and newer stuff from Phish.

Portishead is always good.

also Tipsy - ultra-psychedelic jazzy lounge music from San Francisco. On Asphodel records.

Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, also, for the raw emotion, and the wisdom.

then there's a whole world of OTHER electronic music.
like weird IDM and breaks and lots of other good stuff.

i listen to the best bits of everything... whether folk (simon and garfunkel), jazz (herbie hancock), funk (the meters, the ohio players), breaks (hybrid, tipper, tsunami one), downtempo (dj food, cinematic orchestra), drumnbass (polar, future engineers, teebee), psy (jirah, protoculture), goa (cosmosis, green nuns), ambient (solar fields, darkhalo), hiphop (j5, roots manuva, ozomatli), rock (gnr, little feat, ratm), uncategorisable (shpongle, amon tobin, eat static)... even pop and country and stuff...

i dont care... if its good, i love it

i simply cant understand people who exist purely within one genre, and whose idea of diversity is swapping the skazi cd for a vibrasphere one

and i also think all this paranoia and negativity about the trance scene is a bit laughable because for anyone who listens to all this stuff it soon becomes obvious that 90% of all music in any style is crap. just deal with it and search for the 10% .

but each to their own...           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

Non-trance? lots of it - most of my CDs....

Some CDs I like to listen to when not in the mood for trance (the list cahnges of course)---
Mozart - Requiem (I'm a happy person )
Jovanotti - Lorenzo Raccolta (L'ombelico del mondo...)
New Order - Technique
Ella Fitzgerald...
John Coltrane....

and soooooo many more....

I dont think one can really love Trance music (or any other type of music) without tasting more types. How could you love chocolate if that all you had to eat for years???

50 cent? are you crazy?
That's the worst shit i've listened to. pimba music (portuguese popular music) is much better than that.

Agreed ... When I am not listenin to trance I am listenin to:

1. Radio Head
2. Bjork
3. Erica Badu
4. The Fugees
5. Shakti
6. Ravel, Beethoven, Belrios, Bach
7. All the other tracks that i like on radio - like susie or jessy or somebody's mom - have you heard this track its hilarous.

I agree with surrender - rap is about the lyrics + has a good underlying beat to it. Yes the new OUTKAST albumn is Killa

true words. i never listen only to trance during the day....alternatives is what i always need...

for example these ones:

-Björk, she's a goddess. a fairy that takes me into deepest state of consciousness.

-all compilations + solo album by José Padilla. grrrreat music usually.

-some good detroit mixes by Gayle San or Robert Leiner do it for me.

-death metal (bands like Death or Cannibal Corpse). it promotes violence and death too, but musically wise its brillant. and u dont understand the lyrics

-Judas Priest. "the worlds best heavy metal of all times (as described in the booklet of their best of album)". but only the tracks done with Halford. didnt like the other vocalist they had for some years. finally, and fortunately Halford is back! Metal God!

-much traditional and modern arabian and indian music. i love it.          Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

I don't need anything to make me understand how much I like and appreciate trance. Sometimes I listen to it non stop, morning to night. I wake up banging full-on and go to sleep listening to it as well. So, I don't agree that it is unhealthy.

Although, I do get in the mood to listen to other music from time to time. I love Depeche Mode, Pantera, Snoop the Pimp, System of a Down, Korn, Sublime and Pink Floyd to name a few. However, I always go back to trance. Progressive is good. I have tried it and have plenty of it, but Very Psychedelic Trance is the best to me and I don't have Mental or health problems (that I know of at least).
