Xerox Copy Machine, Camera, Markers, Paint, and Illustrator for vector artwork with text and putting things together. No 3-D programs. No Photoshop, only for changing resolution and formats, otherwise it's evil.

atikin: that's a lovely setup you mention there, should create some alternative styles!

i started out in paint 3 when i was a kid (aren't i any longer?) and must say it had a lot of possibilities...

scanners/copy machines are fun, i'd like to see what you do with them!           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

I use coreldraw 11 suite as well as photoshop and freehand, but I find corel to be alot more effective and the plugins kick-ass. I dunno how people can stand doing layout without a vector program handy? photoshop is evil! but what can you do when you work around mac lovers... I also make use of a digi cam and scanner.

what do you mean here ? surely mac users have acces to exactly the same programs as windows user regarding graphical design ? (except for 3ds maybe)           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

well, in my experience working in the design industry people are rather snotty when it comes to platforms, mac being the one and only... up until now only freehand, illustrator, photoshop, so on so forth have only been available to mac users. But with Corel 11 on the scene now maybe things will change, aahhhh! the bliss of the transparency tool!

it happens that i work for a mac dealer, but i am a pc user since 1990 ... (first applied for the job, then learned how they work )

as for industry standard... yeah they deserve they spot they have right now in the DTP industry, but i doubt they'll keep it, right now pc's are equally (or more) powerfull than the heaviest mac workstation, and there is no software on mac that doesn't exist on pc also... the only thing left to prefer mac over pc is the interface ...

(be honoust, osX is a lovely interface!)           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

Sometimes I use scanned hand-draws, that I re-draw as a layersheet in Illustrator (which is also perfect for Logo/Title Text work), then color them with Flash ('cause the tools are so nice and it gives a charming rendering), and finally I work the whole Colourimetry (lol contrasts, levels, saturation, and so on) in PhotoShop...
It is for exemple the way I designed the Sadhu on the introducing page of my Website..

But why do people say Photoshop is too 'evil' ?? Should I understand too complex ?? (no offence oki ?)

Pathfinders in Illustrator are also very very useful

Have fun with Design guys !!
