hey, guys:
one of the freaks here. 
just discovered this thread, and i'm about to go to lunch... when i return, i'll read it in depth, and comment more.
one quick thing that i noticed from scanning through, there is a warning on the cover, a parental advisory one.... explict truth contained inside....

I am looking at the cd now - and i must say it is truly shocking......not only the images of people with their brains blown out, but even more offensive i think is the imagery depicting the rape of a woman - what does that have to do with anything?? Also....i think it could have been done without having full colour on some images.
With regards to the reference and link to the rage against the machine cd - sorry mr.hanky the xmas pooo - but that is utter rubbish. RATM are a protest rock band who produced powerfully emotive protest songs. Do you know what the image on the cover actually is?? Well.....It is the image of a buddhist monk who set fire to himself in protest at the oppression of Buddhists and their faith - it is not just gory imagery for the sake of it - it works with the whole package - everyone knew and still knows what to expect when they buy a RATM cd - it is even on the front cover FFS - not tucked away in some little booklet so you get a nice shock of blood and gore when you pull it out. And yes - it does have a warning sticker - explicit truth.....get real man....what the hell does that mean? You should have - 'Images in this package are gory and may disturb some people' or something along those lines.

So, Do you watch Horror movies and read Horror books ?
If yes, why? Why do you read them ? or see them
Are you also disgusted by them ? they contain blood and other brutal stuff don’t they !?
Sure the writers don’t have an intention to spread bad vibes at people !

And just to comment quickly on this....are you AnR for this label or something? Are the comments going to affect you personally? Don't you think that when they decided on the artwork for this compilation that they realised it would offend some people? Of course they did. One of the best ways of creating publicity for yourself and to promote is to do/create something controversial. Ever heard the phrase 'All publicity is good publicity'?

anyway if june want say something she can do it in nice way and dont tlaking dirty like she did!
and i dont think that the cover or the little book inside the CD or all the action here help them to sale the comp,cuz if the music is good ppl buy the CD and if the music is not good ppl dont buy the CD.
so this is really ridiculous. |

I would think that as someone who paid for the cd out of her own hard earned money, she has the right to complain - i think she actually stated she likes the music on it. And dont you think the label expected some people to react like this?

I agree it lacks certain tact and much taste, but I'm happy to be able to make my own opinion about it and not have some fragile little minds tell me what is APPROPRIATE for a cd booklet.
Now if you don't agree with the purpose, because we can agree that the story is the truth, then as Chief Wiggum would say:

so, one can only protest through rock music, and never psy music? we must continue to be the blind man? you can only have happy happy drug drug in your psy? i say, make your voice heard however you can best express it.
the images contained within the cd were supposed to be shocking. are they supposed to be enjoyed? i would hope not. they were created to cause a reaction, to get you to feel something. if you are feeling disgust, that's better than feeling nothing at all. and disgust is what should be felt. this world we live in, it needs some serious fixing. how long to do wish to continue wearing rose colored glasses, and ignore what happens all around us? you think by ignoring the atroicities, they will go away? only when people, good people, stand up for what they believe in can we even begin to make a difference, to begin to make small changes, to try and make this world a better place. this compilation was one of our ways to make a stand, to make our voice heard, to say "hey, wake up! things are wrong and these problems need to be addressed!". it is an anti-war message. we are not advocating violence, but decrying it. i see some people receive this message, and others are too caught up in the viseral experience.
