I will try more complex chains on sends, and not just simple delays and reverbs.
easy way to control dry/wet levels.

ableton has endless possibilities.. the more we dig, the more we find. great

Nice. Will have to try that out...I need to do more work with racks.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

when u load an eq 3 , by default the freqlow will be set to 250 Hz and the freqHigh will be set to 2.50k .....

if u want to emule the EQ from a MIXER .... is there a more optimal configuration for the freqlow and freqhigh ?

Keep all your windows on top!

Say you have a spectrum analyzer in one channel, but you want to work in another channel while still having the analyzer displayed..or you want two VSTs next to each other from different tracks etc

go to preferences, look and feel, and turn OFF the option 'auto-hide plugin windows'

cheers!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

that one will be hard....

so i have 3 colums of the SCENES in the APC 40 that i wont use for nothing. so i midi reasigned them to the turn off/on button from some FX .... BUT when u MIDI reasign those butons to something , it looses the LEDS... so i wonder if its possible to reconfigure the leds to keep workin... lets say GREEN for when the FX is on and RED for it is off....

any ideias?

i found some people recofigurin those stuffs with max and traktor... but not in ableton...

hrm that's a tricky one - maybe head over to the ableton forums and post it, there are a lot of APC users who do custom scripts and stuff that might be able to help you out.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Wow can't believe I didn't know this:

If you want to do changes in velocity (like for a drum roll) really easy, just go to draw mode and you can click and drag the velocity bars to make a crescendo.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

An even quicker way to draw a crescendo:

Select all the notes you want to modify.
Press Ctrl
In the velocity editor draw a stright line going up or down to your taste. (The draw mode must be off for this trick to work)

nice tips guys, both of those are not as well known as they should be...

A slight niggle on your tip Maine Coon...I believe you have to hold down CTRL while you are drawing the line?

One thing I was thinking about today in relation to axis mundi's rack-o-joyful randomness...

Sometimes it can be fun to introduce randomness, but you don't want *everything* to be random...automate the entire rack to go on/off during certain sections or notes. Clip envelope + draw tool (Remember that shortcut, CTRL+B!) is great for this.

Damn...Corpus is pretty trippy. try Beam/Tube/Pipe algo, putting it on a send, setting the LFO to noise/sample+hold, and automate the tuning. That shit is weird sounding.

ableton has a velocity plugin in the MIDI effects, itself randomizes the note velocity..

TRIPLETS: press Ctrl+3 or Command+3(mac) when inside the piano roll, it will change to triplet mode.
Press the again to toggle triplet mode off.

We all know that you can hold down ALT while a note is selected and move it with the arrow keys just a teensy bit....

But did you know that if you hold down SHIFT + ALT you can adjust the length of notes by that teensy bit? Especially useful when making a bunch of notes just a tiny bit smaller            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Formant Filter with Vowel Change, using Live's EQ and Audio Effects Rack:

1. insert an audio effect rack
2. add the ableton equalizers with formant patches
3. enable chain
4. distribute ranges equally, with cross fades, to a smooth vowel transition.
5. assing chain sellector to a makro knob or midi controller

example:

I don't like live's formant presets...
I found theses ones on Robin Schmidt EasyEQ

if you guys have more examples, please post them too

use slice-to-midi not only on loops, but also on full tracks and remixes
