1) What does Yoyo's body have to do with the music she plays?
2) Do you want people at your parties who are there to ogle the female DJ rather than dance and trance?
3) Female DJs who use this sort of advertising for themselves give the impression that they are insecure enough about their DJ skills for them to be only a secondary point of interest to partygoers.
4) When will we see a photo of DJ Bim with his top off on a flyer?

I find it really nice and professional.

Do a google search for 'sex' and you'll find lots of other, similarly professional photos.

Bring it on and if you got some more Yo Yo pictures just post them over here heh.

What does the fact that they are male have to do with them not showing their bodies on the flyer? Surely women go to trance parties too? This seems to be quite a sexist post from you, Detox, and I'm a bit surprised and disappointed.

Colin for me a party is an audiovisual experience and if the DJ on decks looks good then i feel better too,i dont know why this affects me but it does and i dont find it to be bad actually.

You misunderstood me on the male and female photos issue.I find it childish ofcourse to mention that i am a supporter of the equality between man and woman,i mean such differences existed (or should exist to place it better since some people are still stuck in the past) 30-40 years ago.

Females show their body (not all of them though even the good looking ones) on flyers simply because its something nice to show and helps them on promotion and indeed its something catchy mainly for the male population,i mean we are men after all and we got passions and weaknesses and i bet women are one of them to most of us including me i must confess. They got something nice on them and they use it in order to advance their dj/artist career. Is that bad?Yes and No on various extends but this is a big conversation that will get us out of topic.I mean as bad it is for a man to take advantage of his muscle strength and work on a construction business the same bad is for a woman to take advantage of her good looks to advance on the music industry. On any case though this is acceptable and not unethical so if somebody wishes to do it then he is free to do so.

Now on the other side, male djs/artists are trying to look more sophisticated,i mean men are not obsessed a lot on how good they look and women like for sure watching nice guys on flyers but they dont pay so much attention on external beauty like men do when watching women, thats based on my own experience ofcourse.Plus they want to keep their 'super serious star image' and prefer to be on photographs where they wear a nice t shirt, wearing prada black sun glasses and have a serious and enigmatic look that stares away rather than appearing on full body photos with tight t shirts, coloured hair and leather jeans. Its just a matter of choice i guess.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

True. The music should speak, not the body.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

At the end of the day it is all about how people would like our scene to develope over the next couple of years. Some like the MTV Highway and some of us, myself included, like it less person fixated and more about the music.

that was a flyer...

NOW look what happens at russian parties right on the stage
http://www.psychedelic.ru/party/zabiyak/img_2842.jpg

i dont think that this kind of perfomance/images belong to the trance scence, even if bikini is fluro, or furs are neatly shaped around the belly (and heiii putting dead animals for just looking nice is much worse than wearing them at minus 30 cold , grrr). but if it happens in a trance party already , i guess it is part of the scene right. uffff how lame and not intelligent to feed ppl sex so directly from the stage,

or flyer, for that matter.

or are we getting back to basics in our mind evolution hehehehheheh

Well, women are no better than men really. This is also a proven point when it comes to women rising to ranks of power: Cleopatra, Margaret Thatcher etc

The problem is not gender, the problem is species

Humankind, also you and me, are perverted and ripped out of nature into culture.

The problem then is, our culture is abusive to nature. This fact is true, regardless or sex.

I could go endlessly into detail to proove my point in this - but its not what this topic is about

Having focus removed from your DJing skills to anything else which is not a part of the essential craft of DJing is degrading to the puritist psy DJ.

Thats basicly it.

If it was in the R&B scene, then it would not be a problem. However, it is not.

Also - When "Djane Nice Ass & Tits" gets a gig over "DJ More Talented" it is a problem, and it sucks up fairness and promotion of talent and puts it into something which belongs on MTV and as such is part of the norm of mainstream culture.

This is essentially in conflict with the values of the psychedelic culture which is to provide an alternative approach to life...

So, that prooves my point, if it was another scene but ours - then fine... but it isnt; or is it ?

I wouldnt want to spin for an organizer who would hire ass over talent anyway... problem is people will go there, and in the eyes of the world then that is the "psychedelic culture".
Which is sad, but be that as it may, it is still a fact we need to deal with, just like Skazi & Infected Mushroom.

Mainstream Pop MTV Culture Kiddy Psy.

If you want to sell yourself as a DJ, sell yourself on your skill & music, and not your ass.

If you are to book a DJ, book him/her for his skill and music, not for his/her ass.

If you are to promote a DJ, promote him/her from the content of the music, and not the shell of the performer.

If you are to enjoy music, enjoy it for the music, and not for the packaging.

If you dance, dance for the music, not the chicks.

And, in regards to all the other stuff you wrote about women.
Sure, let them dress how they want to, behave like they want to and spread out as much energy AT THE PARTY as they want to.
Just dont let it become a part of the promotional process that they have a vagina instead of a penis.

I CleanSe your SouL oF the EvIl MtV DemoN - Be rEboRn Oh sOn of sAtaN (this was a joke, not blasfemi intended)

Psymag still has "Ass" as the fourth button on their web site... yes, all the latest spam you've been seeking and cheeky pictures as well. Who could ask for anything more?

Let's face it - this is a male-dominated music culture in many respects, so there are definate sexist undertones to a lot of the way things are done. I have no idea how this unfortunate state of affairs could be improved other than to call out those who are the worst offenders, mind you...
