Yamaha's HS80, but its not like a big improvement but better (also better than m-audio and rockit's)           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

I was considering Mackies myself but while doing my research I didnt hear good things about it in comparison to the Yamahas. Maybe some users here will have other things to say.           StarLab - Label DJ/Artist for Digital Om Productions

imo there is nothing worthy below 400euro for a single speaker if you want to consider them any good.

yamaha NS10 for example were quite cheap and legendary monitors but just as reference..it makes no fun to use them but if you manage the mix to sound good on them you can be quite sure the mix will sound good everywhere else as well..actualy they are not produced anymore...lol

the HS50 and HS80 sound quite different..more metallic like a tincup to my ears..Adam A5 got bad bass resonances in it , so as said some times before..the only thing in low budget area considered good are the ADAM A7 to me..

the mackies should be at least better than the yamaha..and one more thing..in the end it comes down how good you know your monitors..if you check your mix often on other speakers and so on..especially in the first time..you might learn a lot about your monitor sound and what to look for..

then you still will be able to do good mixes, but it will take you way longer than with a better pair..and with a lot less fun!

to me it seems like you could only afford one speaker for a higher price now, right?
..what about saving up another 2-3 month and get into the freedom of nice sound?

or find an additional job for a month maybe..or even most resellers should offer kind of financing..here in hamburg you can finance your gear with 0% at a specific store for example if you pay half in front..maybe think about it..

cheers

in the price range of 1000 dollars... ( 400 euro per speakers) what goodies the market have to offer? to wait a few months to get a better one s an option indeed...

i already know that thing bout knowin ur monitor well is more important than anything and tbh i can mix good in those behringers nowadays but its time to change them 5 years old and the low frenquencies of it stinks and the sounds of the mid are too distorted in high volumes... so im willing now to start in a new but better monitor...

the room s not profisional treated but i did my best to trap the low frequencies and to remove the echo ... this s important to consider when gettin a new good box right ? i heard if u put them in small and no treated room u d only hear the lows lol

some options i found in the price range of 1000 dollars

the dynaudio of bm5a mkII" .... ( 1000 dollars )

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/696917-REG/Dynaudio_Acoustics_BM_5A_MKII_BM_5A_MKII_7.html

and the makie high resolution 624 ( 500 dollars the single )

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/496951-REG/Mackie_HR624MKII_HR624mk2_140W_6_7.html

the ADAM a7 u were talkin bout is this one ? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/688848-REG/Adam_Professional_Audio_A7X_A7X_7_150W_Active.html

more expensive than the others ;/

ow also if u notice i picked the smaller models from the mackie and the dynaudio...

the makie high resolution 824 is 700 dollars the single ( 1400 the pair )

and the dynaudio bm12 is 2000 dollars ;/

there are some other models from dynaudio of 6" in that site i was researching but they all nearfiled monitors with cut in the low it seems...

Out of them options, I would get the Dynaudios. If you are on a budget, they are a good balance of monitors that will help you mix tunes that translate well on other systems and they actually sound pleasing, to hear music on.

Peace out.

I dont know the mackie actualy, but a Dynaudio with 7" should be fine.

I ment the old Adam A7 with 6,5" wich is good and big enough for a small room like my 20sm room.

ok, well the new series is even better and in case of A7x its 100euro more..but its worth saving up i believe..

cheers

focal cms 50/65 maybe... have the 65 and they are more than good enought ,50 are very similar with a bit less low end...you might need a sub for checking the deep low that you can add later ,might depend the room. best if you can save for dynaudio adam genelec focal.. around 1000/2000 euros so you dont need to update later but the cms are already good for small room.

some noobish question regardin specification...

oka so in the dynaudio 7" woofer the specification of the frequency range goes from 45Hz - 21kHz , my behringers goes from 50 Hz to 21 kHz ...

so obviously from 50 hz lower, my behringers starts to get realy realy weak.. soloin those frequency i can hear them almost like failing.... so its a pain in the ass to work with cirurgical adjustments in those regions...

so the same would apply in the dynaudio from 45 hz and lower frequencyes ??

lets say i want to work with a B bass in the lower octave..it would be 30 hz.... i would be loosin quality in there even with that dynaudio ?

the other question s regardlin the power of the ampli and the volume...

the dynaudio :

LF Amplifier 50W RMS
HF Amplifier 50W RMS

Maximum Sound Pressure Level (SPL) 117dB (Pair @ 1 m, Short Term)

my behringers :

LF Amplifier 150 watts
HF Amplifier 75 watts

Maximum Sound Pressure Level (SPL) 116 dB @ 1 Meter

as we can see the power of amplifier from the behringers are highers... i was thinkin the higher the wattz the more loud it can get.... but both boxes says that have the same maximum sound pressure... ( well 1 db difference )...

so out of curiosity it means both box can get the same loud volume or the behringer s louder?

thanks guys..

RMS is the "feeled" loudness..so i used to own the behringers as well and i know they are very loud actualy..

45HZ to 21HZ just means its the filter that starts its flank on that 45Hz frequency with -12 db per octave..but the actual sound of the bass can differ a lot since the actual building of the speaker counts way more..its the responce, the quality of the crossover network and the tweeters itself etc.. wich will make your bass clear and honest to judge..

its not just how low the speakers can go and for a homestudio it really is enough..since in psy usually best results are with a high passed bass on maybe 30HZ(example) and even in mastering those areas get cut of as far as i know.

i wont worry too much about that..you will soon develop a bass wich sounds good on a 7" Dynaudio if you start comparing it on other systems, or maybe you even got a chance to check a mix on a party build up with some friends or something..then you`ll get a pretty good feeling on how your mixes translate..

more important are the defined mids and highs of dynaudios..thats where you really will benefit!

cheers
