Fair enough.

Thought you're chasing some computer for music making on a budget.

I ment being limited to what you have makes you if you don't have a choice for a time being           Devasya Savitur

If I want to force creativity by limiting myself, I can open MSCONFIG and set the processor core limit to 1 or 2!

Instant 20x less processing power

...or I could just choose to limit my options and bounce more oftwn. Having extra power to breathe is always nice.

The real reason I went for such a high end workstation is because it used to take so long to open some of the larger Kontakt libraries or even run one instance of the newer VSTis like Serum when the very complicated patcheS are running.

I can't believe what waste of money the black bin MacPro is for an audio people, the video cards are most of the cost and they're useless for musicians.

Custom or DIY is the way to go, I even recommend Hackington PC build for people wanting to run Logic and want the best spec they can afford.           -------------- Studio Engineer --------------

I fully agree. The more power, the more creative freedom you get. Specially when doing some sound design for movies, or orchestral work, it takes huge amounts of ram. The more computing power one gets, the best one can express himself - that's why stuff like UAD is the golden standard, delivering on quality while also maintaining the system free for other tasks. Performance is where it's at!

Naaah, just for fun/challenge, but thanks for the input nonetheless.

Good idea, but it's one of those things when you pretend you have no choice, knowing myself, on first overload I would kicked full power back in.

More power better, goes without saying, especially these days where's so much plugin hogs and when that machine pay the bills.

Yeah, Hackintosh-es are really making better case these days, I had one with my i5 2500k machine, pretty much scored higher than iMac 12,2 which was the same thing almost spec's wise, but in same time was pretty reliable and solid, expandable.

Went with laptop instead, scored bargain, so bought mixer also, decent live setup, here's in action, be aware, You Tube messes with sound quality
