I brought a friend (Jarrett) with me who is really in to Detroit House. He yelled at me all night that I should have brought him to a psytrance party a loooooooooonnnng time ago. He was absolutely blown away. Good Stuff.

I met him a little after dawn, it was great to talk to someone when they are having that moment when they first come to a psy party and feel like they've just been let in on a great secret...

I actually met quite a few who had their first psy experience! very nice. Psytribe and Ananda, whatever you guys are doing to promote, you are doing it right. great job with the event!

great sets from all but I especially loved Konflux and Cognoscenti (Dai), smooth hard and trippy, most excellent! Psyclops was full-on movin the floor, Meta was groovin hard twilight style but yeah I wish he was a little louder.

the renegade set was fun, but seriously it was only on for a couple hours at the beginning of the party and you couldnt hear it 20 feet away. it wasnt a big deal. it didnt draw more than 15 people. I dont think this would work at most parties but for some reason it just kinda vibed here for that initial-party-stage time frame.

Dropzone had a great set! I wish more people could have heard it. Oso and Conor were great as well!

awesome location! lots of neighbors around though......makes me wonder how long this will last. Rachel and I hiked to the top of the east mountain and you could totally hear the sound from up there.

until next time...

Yeah, hence the lower sound levels... that mixer was already SLAMMED into the maximum red zone when I got onstage, so I assume the sound guy was under pretty strict orders to keep things turned down at the system level. It's a national park on one side, but plenty of fancy looking houses right across the street...

sure, but as soon as Andy Barakuda went on, he was twice as loud as you, it was apparent

Ah... yeah, hard to tell from behind the decks.

Well, shit, I wish somebody had said something at the time. After some stern looks from the sound guy I turned the master down so there was actually visible movement on the red blips at the clip level instead of just solid red bars pegged to the top of the master channel...

nice party, perhaps a little uh intense at times with some of the other goings on, but fun.....

I really really like the spot, i hope that this is one that can be used intelligently and in moderation and just sat on and saved for the really special events....
I have a feeling thats not how things with it will pan out, but ill keep my fingers crossed.

It was truly great to see alot of people ive not seen in a long time. Psyclops and Kiva it was especially nice catching up with you 2. Its been quite a while, but there were many others as well, too many for my still foggy brain to fully piece back together.
Musically i enjoyed almost every set. I arrived during Psyclops set to hear him laying down some heavy 3dv and Materia records kinda stuff. Tasty. Dai and Konflux were outstanding as well, though i must admit during this time i was bouncing all over the place saying hi to old friends, so i only heard it from a distance.
Meta was his usual pro self. A little bouncy mixed with a little dark, made for a nice sunrise.
Andy played a very solid driving set, but with not much stuff i recognized. I usually enjoy Andy's sets as they remind me alot of my own, and as a DJ how often do we get to dance to someone else who usually hits that same sweet spot we look for in our music. This time, while almost every track he played was something i could see myself play as well, i didnt recognize much of it. Thats probably more of a good thing than bad, it just was different than i planned on.
Spyros i think played my favorite set and probably the best one ive heard him play. Not much else to say on it, except damn bro... nice one, what a great and proper birthday set.
I took a break after him to recoup and get ready for my set so i missed most of Bypass, cant really say much there.
Scenator closed out the party nicely with some proper tunes. He had a few rough patches here and there, but the crowd didnt mind and was happy with the music.

As for those who enjoyed my set. Thank you the compliments are highly appreciated.
Overall this was a fun weekend, but it took quite a bit out of me, i think that can probably be said for alot of others though too.
Id like to thank Psytribe, Ananda, and Spyros in particular for hooking this one up

I know I told ya to turn it up, Aeon, and ya did - a little.

HOWEVER, Andy went on at 6 am exactly - and that is when noise complaints are useless.

Screw the sound guy, you're the live act!!

After all those years of DJing I'm pretty wary of solid red bars on the master channel, dude... clipped sound being slammed through an amp's limiter doesn't sound too good... I've had many many sound guys tell me that when the DJ keeps pushing the master against their recommendation they just go "OK smart guy, I'm just going to turn you down over here then..."

Good point on the 6am thing though... next time, just park your car in the middle of the dancefloor and run a feed in there.

I had a great time. Thank you all for putting this gathering together. Lots of good music had me dancing through the night and morning. Thanks Aeon for being there. That's twice I've heard you and I sure like your sound, serious and happy at the same time. Volumewise, it was a little quieter than the other sets I heard, but I just moved front and center to compensate for it, further back for louder volumes. Nice place with the trees and all. Thank you event organizers for letting me test out the tinkertoy shade structure. It worked quite well even after I shortened it from 10 feet high to 6 feet 8, but it was not needed at all in such tree filled shady place as this one. I was there from 4 PM. Real early. Left at 4 PM the next day. No tomatoes came my way, but I thought I saw one get tossed back once later in the morning. Yes, Andrew, I did indeed have a tomato beer (three, actually) while noticing your absence at the party. I am certain that you would've had a good time at this gathering.

I was mostly wandering around when the first DJs were playing. I think it was the first DJ (Oakley? I'm not sure as my chart may not have the right lineup and I didn't meet him) that played an Ace Ventura song called "Psychic Experience". I happen to like this song, though I had never heard it played anywhere except on my home stereo. Sounded good outdoors, though it seems I've taken a much more liking to the music that was played later. You were right in your prediction of my response to the various types of music, Chino. I heard the siren call of the renegade tunes and made my way over there. I managed to hear the last of Zomba-Mat. Then Psyclops, Konflux vs. Cognoscenti, Meta, and Barakuda had me stomping, hopping, and dancing most of the whole time they played. I think it was near the end of the Konflux vs. Cognoscenti set that Rachel had moved front and center and was dancing that we figured out we'd better not like the music too much more or we'd start the straw on the dance floor on fire from stomping on it so furiously. Some of the tracks and mixes sounded so good, all the songs were to my liking and there was plenty of witnesses around me to confirm it. It was then that my feet got mad at me! My legs still had some go in them, but the feets weren't having any of it. I suppose I could've tried sitting on one of the benches in the dance floor, but there's something about psytrance music that prevents me from just listening to it if there's room to dance. This seems true for just about every kind of psytrance I have heard so far, stronger for some types, less for others. So off to the chill area I went. Saturnia was there at the time. She happened to be playing music that had a "dance to me" sound too, so I only kicked it for awhile and then went to check out how hot the shade structure had become now that it was indeed exposed to the direct sun. With the roof being closer to the ground I could feel more warmth radiating from the underside, but it was still a lot cooler than standing in the direct sun. As it was a nice day and not so hot, especially for a July day, it was not much of a heat versus cool test. The bed of my truck was underneath it, so I tried that out. It was cooler, but big mistake though my feet thanked me later. Yep, fell asleep for an hour or two and missed most of Spyros's and Bypass's sets. Paradigm was going strong when I got back to the dance floor. Feet were cool, so this worked out well after all. When I met Paradigm later and asked him if it was Para-diggem or Paradime, he said it could be Twenty Cents. 20¢. Spryos was having a good time. Lots of happiness, infectious in its quality, least ways he had me smiling. Happy Birthday, Spyros! Scenator kept me going on now tired legs, but that's a good thing.

As it was an open invitation party, I don't have anyone to thank for inviting me. Thank you for having me on the list. So many different ways these gatherings are organized. It's all good, and I thank all of you for going to the trouble to make it happen.           - - -

Hahaha, pair-o-dimes.

@ aeon - I *would* put my car in the middle of the dance floor and let it rip, except it seems SOME people just don't like renegade sound systems...
