I agree with you, they showed up drunk, never showed up for their sound check and faked their entire live set. There were no audio cables running from either of the two nord leads or juno 106's they made the club rent. I was really disappointed in how disrespectful of the club, the crowd, and the decor they were. They actually tore down one of the peices on stage.
Yeah they suck. The club promoters booked them without consulting us first.. I would've never suggested booking them.

That is some of the most sourest shit I have heard. Luckly for me, AMEN left a sour taste in my mouth, and I have not been a big fan of their music since.

As long as I live I'll never forget the look on what's-his-name's face as he twisted those knobs. Pleasure, pain, fire, earth - all came pouring out from his face as he turned some knob on the mixer until he couldn't take it anymore and flopped over for at least 2 measures.
For a while I thought he might have slipped into a coma from the sheer exertion of contorting his face.
I was shocked, I was awed - how could someone be so pretentious, so fake? I guess that was me being naive, expecting a psytrance artist such as Astral Projection to get on a stage and leave their egos behind. Oops.
In some ways it made me appreciate Infected Mushroom a lot more, it made their 'live set' a lot more authentic, even if they effectively did the same thing. At least they exhibited a genuine energy with their music, jumping and pumping their fists in the air like people dancing to music - not someone having an orgasm on the mixing console.
I dunno, Nation was great for exposing people to psytrance and getting the word out, but I couldn't see it lasting in that environment for long (without turning into Astral Projection). Better to have it small and real, just as Cyzum says.
I for one will be out there, dancing and trancing, hopefully to some new upcoming artist who's still in it for the vibe and not the $$.

When I was fooling about on stage while the curtain was closed I looked at their setup...
...both Nords and both Juno106's had cables going to the Yamaha. I even checked the routing of the Yamaha to make sure they could even be used (was quite skeptical) They were routed correctly to the right Bus and enabled. They also did a little sound check on one of the Nords with the stage monitors during Flemmings sets. It was definately working.
Unless they unplugged the synths before going on they at least had it set up so that they could be used live. Whether they did is another matter. Maybe they unplugged them when there were those technical issues? I would trust a rented Nord or Juno to go apeshit and have to be unplugged.
Lior drinking Jack straight out of the bottle before starting was pretty unprofessional though. Guess some people think they are rock stars.

It kinda makes you think what kind of personality is under all that glitz and glamour.
ANd tearing down the decors. WHat kind of respect is that to the venue, the decorators, and psy culture period??
Dude, it sucks that nation won't have anything anymore, but if you guys throw something real good in the DC area again, I will be back.
