see you guys tonight!1i finally get to hear the legendary Astral Projection....mixed feelingS about this...i love them...but i dont....they gave us Mahadeva, the spirit,the energy of psychedelic trance especially Goa trance..... then 'Amen' was a big disapointment...but everyone has lows in life right??Back from hell?? or will be back??we shall see.....

First off, thanks to everyone that came out to support our psytrance nights at Cubik, they were definitely fun, and we really enjoyed them. We'll be doing some more underground parties in the future, so if you'd like the info, keep your eyes on www.konvocation.com.
Unfortunately though, I don't think we (Konvocation) will be hosting anymore psytrance nights at Cubik. It was fun, but I don't think the 800 person attendance from last Friday was enough to make it profitable enough for Buzzlife. Thanks again for everyone's suppport and thanks also to Buzzlife for giving us a chance to do our thing. |

Fuck it dude, I'd rather throw a small psytrance party done right, than a big 'rave' with psytrance.
Don't worry though, we'll still be throwing parties, just not with Cubik. The whole process of two promoters with two different agendas trying to do different things is just way to difficult and way to stressful. |

Firstly... sorry for not meeting all you guys at like 1am... i was trying to godamn find this place for like 2 hrs...made it at the party like half an hour before astral's set...would have loved to meet you guys!!Cyzum and crew great work on the deco....the Nation looked awesome with its amazing psychedelic tapestries and effects
Review??What can i say.....this is the hardest post for me on isratrance....but here goes-
the party was a great disapointment....
Reasons-
1)The worst mix between psytrance and everything else!!there were like a few floors of music going on at the same time...attracting like all kinds of crowds of different styles of music...the idea of having John 00 Fleming and Astral on opposite sides of the amazingly lit up and decorated corridor was the only great idea(Astral Projection came on on the other side right after John 00 finshed). I have been to other events where psytrance has been tried and blended with other styles of music(60% of the time it didnt work)...this was probably the worst one as the party was PROJECTED as a PSYTRANCE party...even JOHN 00 Fleming was SUPPOSE to PLAY a SPECIAL PSYTRANCE SET...
2) The music-
Sorry to say John 00 did not play his SPECIAL PSYTRANCE set....thats what i was expecting after reading about this party on the net and on flyers but it did not happen...i recognized like ONE psytrance track(maybe there were more) but sorry to say it DID NOT happen...dont get me wrong this guy played a great set...and everybody probably enjoyed his set more than Astral...but it was progressive, house(eeks...i dont know!!)...but defitnely not a SPECIAL PSYTRANCE SET!!
And then of course ASTRAL PROJECTION!!The pioneers, the gurus, the everything possible a psytrancer would expect out of them if they have never heard them before...right?? WRONG!!!These guys were a bunch of psytrancers turned into commerical, money making, show offs(showing off what??) who have no respect for the psytrance community or them selves. My introduction to them as musicians was a big disapointment. Picture this-
Two guys with a bottle of whiskey, surrounded by a lot of high tech equipment....trying to figure out the sound the first half an hour of their live set!!FIRST HALF AN HOUR OF THEIR LIVE SET!!cmon guys...you are ASTRAL PROJECTION!!Shouldnt you have figured it out earlier??And it went sooo bad that they had to cut the music out completely before starting again as ther was like creaky disfusting sound coming from their left side spekers...and no way in hell you could have blamed the organizers for this coz YOU should have figured it out yourself earlier...you are ASTRAL PROJECTION!!
There were other minor incidents which i was very disapointed with but dont want to mention...lets just say i walked out of the Nation one hour of their SUPPOSEDLY lIVE SET(there was a transition between a track and another track from their last album AMEN which made me realize that it definetly wasnt a LIVE SET!!)
Cyzum and crew...good try my friends...i am sure you didnt plan the party out like this...but it happened!!We all learn from our mistakes...hopefully you can help the psytrance community grow the right way in the future....
I had lots of parties planned out for the east coast(including two in canada), could make it to only two....lets jsut both were very, very interesting and defineltly made me learn a lot.

Well, John did play a bunch of psytrance.. Acan, Eskimo, Tikal, Electric Universe. He started out a bit progressive, but definitely picked it up after about 3 tracks. I was in the DJ booth with him for most of his set, and I can assure you he was playing psytrance albums.

Most of the stuff he was playing was unreleased psy, trust me - I wanted to copy his entire CD book.

I agree with you, they showed up drunk, never showed up for their sound check and faked their entire live set. There were no audio cables running from either of the two nord leads or juno 106's they made the club rent. I was really disappointed in how disrespectful of the club, the crowd, and the decor they were. They actually tore down one of the peices on stage.

Yeah they suck. The club promoters booked them without consulting us first.. I would've never suggested booking them.

Unfortunately, we realized that we didn't have as much say in how the party played out as we would've liked. We were brought in by the normal friday night club promoters (Buzzlife) to help with decor and promotion. We didn't handle the bookings, or most of the logistics of the party. If we had full control over the party (which we didn't) I can assure you the event would have been much different.

John 00's psy trance is rarely full on, he always has a more melodic trancier psy collection like steve birch - spaced out and the like. Definitely awesome music still!
I didn't go to this event, but damn I don't like what I heard about AP
Instead of all the energy and effort directed at the war to end drugs, how about a little attention to drugs which would end war?
