Wowwwww

Great party as always folks

Made new friends, reconnected with old ones...danced my face off...

What happened with Tron? I was so excited to see him and I was on the floor pretty much constantly (with the exception of going back to camp for water and snacks) from 1:30 AM-4PM sunday and didn't see him play...

Highlights of the party for me were Penta's set (as always), Kahn, Kiva , Celli, Burn In Noise, Allaby's ridiculous stage presence

Can't wait for the next one!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Hands down! Outta hand! Good times! Beautiful location, great vibes all weekend. Danced my nuts off in both areas of music! Enjoyed great picnics along the river. Almost everyone had beach front property! Gorgeous weekend, visiting a slice of paradise! One yucky thing.. Did not enjoy seeing a portion of the party littered with balloons. Other than that, fuck yeah!

I had this great reply typed, but then it got erased. So I'll post an in depth review later! Needless to say I had a great time! Thank you to all the wonderful people who came, and extra thanks to all the people who were dancing during my set! I had a great time playing, and I could feel a lot of really positive energy coming off of the crowd. It was a truly great experience.

It was great getting to meet you Wil! Thanks for the kind words!           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

Outta hand for sure! Man some people take freak to the next level lol

'twas a nice weekend, it sucks though because I left feeling like I need a get away. It went by Waaaaaaay to fast!! I'm more tired now than when I showed up hahaha

Thank you to all that put this together I'm always grateful and know I can count on you. It's been 10+ years of quality therapy for my soul and I appreciate it very much.

Without causing too much drama I would like to know who actually played a live set? I got only dj sets for my time on the dance floor and at camp heard what sounded to be the same.

Kahn it was good to hear you on the funktion! Man I love that sound system!!!

And kudos on the set-up this time around. Where the main stage was, was much better then the freak show

Cliff, how would you define "Live Set?" A lot of artists were playing sets of 100% their own music, which seems to be the standard these days. Most of the GMS/Riktam & Bansi sets were all original music, as was Swell's set. I believe Burn In Noise also played all his own tracks. I'm not sure on the others.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

That's what I thought "in the flesh" is what people should say lol

A live set I would define as some aspect of the set to be performed live. Now that's all up to the artist on which part. It could be live mixing/re-arranging, keys, samples, tweaking etc. Just not playing their own CDs. Now I know that not all aspects can be done on the fly or even translating the 12+ tracks a song may have need to be, but playing a cd and then playing air guitar (not that someone did ) doesn't count as a live set. Really just plain and simple cd playing is a dj set no matter who's music is being played. Unless your a turntablest (or take that approach) then "live" would apply because what is taking place is "live" and on the fly. There is room for error and room for expansion of the moment (which can also be done with CDs)

Also playing a prerecorded set from a laptop doesn't count. At least break down the songs to deliver it back for the time and place. A foundation can be layed out but there should be room for on the fly

I notice you said, "Just not playing their own CD's." In reality, somebody doing this may be "doing more live" than your average "live act." At what point does it become live? It's been debated so many times over. I am impressed when I do see an actual "live act" (such as Terrakroma Live at Freakshow). But it's not something I expect anymore, even from my most favorite headliners. In fact, sometimes I would rather see them mix their own CD's than play a set off a laptop (which is usually pre-arranged). I think DJing is a lost art amongst the psy scene. In other scenes of electronic music, it's pretty standard that when you see a headliner that they play a 3+ hour DJ set of their music mixed with other music. I actually prefer this format as a dancer. It keeps it more interesting, and gives them a chance to explore beyond just their own tracks; as long as they are playing a good number of their own tracks in there. In those scenes, there is less emphasis placed on "Live Set" and "DJ Set." Instead, they just list the headliner's name with no pre or post-text. It keeps it simpler, and it might be better. If there is some kind of special live electronics setup, that usually gets special mention though.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN
