I usually am a man of few words, but this time seeing the posts after the party, I felt I had to give you guys an accurate description of the festival. Here is…
My Review :
Reached the location around 4pm on the 6th, the view was absolutely breathtaking. The resort was located on the other side off Nagarkot opposite side of the hill from the SJ07 location. From this place you could see entire ranges of mountains with snow capped peaks compared to the smaller hills around the SJ location. I guess people got the impression that it wasn’t as lush as the previous place but that’s only because winter hasn’t completely gotten over yet and I think Nepal just generally gets greener as the weather becomes more temperate. The dancefloor was a lot smaller than SJ07 but was atleast flat and level in comparison making dancing a lot easier and it had a 360 degree view of the valley and the peaks.
I cant say much about the camping area as I had a room but I can understand it being a lot tougher to manage compared to SJ 07 because of how cold it was this time compared to last time. There were quite a few rooms at the resort and I think a lot of people gave up on the camping idea and booked rooms and shared them with friends.

The music kicked off just after sunset with Hatti Baba, was nice hearing his set again. This man has an incredible presence and vibe that he brings to a party. Wish he could have made more balagan with us but heard he wasn’t too well as he had been travelling quite a bit before the festival.

After him was the Punjabi Puthar Karan aka Hoffkik , caught the last hour of his set. Played some nice dark tunes to set the stage up for Kerosene Club who came on next.

Brian kicked off his set with a very nice tune with some shiva mantra sample in it, I was really tired so decided to take a quick nap at this point before I played. Heard most of his set tho from the room, some solid night music with great production.

I came on after brian at about 3 am and played till 5am, I stuck to playing a twilight set as brian was scheduled to play a morning stomp set after me. Loved the vibes from the crowd.

There was roughly around 200 people on the first night.

Stomp then came on after me and kept the twilight power going, I left after an hour. Didn’t get to catch the stomp tracks that he played towards the last hr.

After stomp came Mad maxx, a killer guy. Felt really bad about missing his set but I was passed out by that point. Maxx was nice hanging out with you and will definitely catch your live in India somewhere.

The morning crowd was very small on the first day, I think everyone was just too shagged out from all the stomping the whole night and just went to their rooms and crashed.

After Maxx was Nishan from Nepal missed his set as well.

I walked in again when Vishal from Calcutta was playing, played a good afternoon fullon set Nice meeting ya mate and looking forward to bajaooing it with you in Tantra cal soon

After Vishal was a nice surprise addition to the lineup, a pretty (Russian I think) girl who played some nice tunes to end the party before the break. Didn’t get her name tho.

Then came the break for a few hours…

Arnold a good friend from Bombay who’s known for tearing up the dance floor at clubs across the country with his progressive music came on after the break to make his psychedelic debut. Played a very nice full on set and took the dancefloor from 0 to 200 people in a few hrs. Great debut my friend, you need to do this more often.

After Arnold was one of my fav dj’s and good friend from Kathmandu Dj Kranti. Kranti’s energy behind the console is absolutely infectious and he along with his buddy vibe got the whole party going nuts with their twilight music. The dancefloor filled up at this point and became one hooting screaming raging mass. Track selection was great, got to hear some of my fav twilight tunes from over the years. Keep it up Kranti, with that energy soon you’ll have fred and tsuyoshi running for their money

After Kranti was the other Punjab di Puthar Psysid, I don’t know what they are putting in the water in Patiala but this guy played a very nice dark set. Nice tempo, track selection, nice one mate Good to see punjab on the map.

Next was Kikx, played a nice smooth night set. Super guy, was nice hanging out with you and mathilda. Looking forward to Italy

After Kikx was Naked Tourist, nice solid night set professional and to the point. Didn’t get to meet you mate but you got some solid tunes!

Roughly around 350 people at the party on the 2nd night.
After Naked was Paul Taylor missed his set as well.

After Naked was my buddy ankit from ktm who ripped it up in true style and brought in the sunrise. Was nice to see the dancefloor filled up compared to the previous day. The Nepalis love their full on and they were having the time of their life. The sunrise was really nice, the view and the vibes were great. Was great spending the week with you and the ktm gang

After ankit was Sashi who kept the fullon stuff going till the end with a good mix of old and new tracks.

Festival closed with a live act with a didjeridoo and djembe, a fitting end to a true tribal trance gathering.

That was the festival for me, had lovely time hanging out with old friends from sj07 and a whole lot of new people. Everything about the organization was fine, full props to aseem, robin, biru and gang for managing to pull it off despite all the obstacles. The turnout was less I guess because of the border issues and peoples insecurity about the party taking off. I wish people actually spent their time and energy in trying to attend gatherings like these instead of bickering about small issues on this forum all the time.
Thanks everyone for a lovely holiday in Nepal, cant wait to see you all again.
