when i heared this sample for the first time when cedric played in mumbai(india) at fire & ice
wooooooooooooooow i cant express my love for this sample and track toooo well made ........wooooooooow

This is a great album, and very much worth the wait.
It makes my blood boil to know trusted people are out there passing it around. And that it's made it's way on the net, and traded around. (but, i guess almost unavoidable in these days)
But back to the album... Highly recommended. Very diverse, so will fit in many different DJ sets, and makes for nice home listening. High production quality, as well (but like we would expect anything less  ).
I personally very much groove on Aries, Taurus, and Sagittarius right now.

I haven't heard the tunes, so can't talk about the music....Initially I liked the zodiac idea but what is the point of making a zodiac album if the artist does not believe in astrology???
what is the motive to do the tracks on the first place ? on what astro knowledge is the track composition made/influenced?
Just because everyone has an astrological sign and would be at least interested (out of curiosity) in hearing the track for his/her sign???
Sorry to say, but in a way this reminds me of tracks/album names/samples which are drug related and used by artists who have never used these drugs...
....as pathetic as selling "urban shamanism & spirituality" to the people to sell more cds...it seriously undermines peoples' minds & the music of course....seems very fake & hypocritical to me...

I strongly disagree even though I also haven't had a chance to listen to the album yet. I think Cedric's wonderful self review explained perfectly what he ws trying to accomplish. It seems like he is tired of making the same exact music and he needed/wanted something to inspire him and maybe rekindle some of that fire that is needed to make good fresh music.
To me it seems like he researched what the different signs represent and tried to fit the music to the individual sign. I need to hear it to make sure though. The Gemini (my sign) looks extremely intresting, and I don't think there is anything wrong with making people curious about what their music sounds like, that's exactly what I would do if I had the talent/time/money to do it myself. And besides, this guy really doesn't need any introduction, he is one of the uncles of psytrance and everybody knows what to expect from him.
Are you going to tell me next that Pink Floyd were selling themselves to the people when they made Animals or Dark Side of the Moon? Are they fake because they didn't grow up on a farm? Or maybe because they made an album about going insane when some people thought they were completely fine? I'm sure lots of crazy people got offended by that one.
I am wondering what you think about a concept album like the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper which was basically just a collection of nonsense but is still one of the greatest albums ever made.
I respect you for questioning an artist for going against something that you believe in but I think you are taking this album a bit too seriously.

well probably people are taking it too lightly.....In no way, I am questioning the artist's history and experience...but remember that someone's history does not justify what the artist does in the present or future...the past is in the past...
what you say about the Pink Floyd album titles is irrelevant..what does a title called "Animals" have to do with growing up in a farm??? ...some titles can be used metaphorically and in very clever ways..others just for commercial reasons....- e.g. mystery of the thirteen skulls (next one coming indiana jones and the quest for the holy grale??)...I am taking it too seriously???
what about an album called the "seven wonders of the world"?...and you can do some research by using an encyclopedia to see what they looked like...give me a break amigo...Don't know about others but I don't like to be taken as a sucker...
...I think all this undermines our mental ability and capacity...the trance scene should be characterised by open mindedness not stupidity.....
btw...I would love to see some releases making some good points to the world (even indirectly & especially from respected trance veretan artists like Rip van Hippy did) )- e.g. world peace, environment protection, minorities- instead of only talking about drugs & getting high...where is the shamanism, spitiruality and plur??...only in theory????
...food for thought...

I don't think I mentioned God anywhere...and if talking about music is like dancing about architecture then there is no need for the isratrance forum..is there??
Music, as all forms of art, takes a higher form when it goes beyond enjoyment and triggers people to think...but it seems that a lot of people do not like to think...yeah I know it is soooo tiring....
so excuse me for my analysing & I hope you enjoy the Talamasca album a lot!! |

i don't know.
i don't believe in astrology either, but i did enjoy the way he chose to represent each sign musically. just because you don't personally believe in something doesn't mean you don't understand the principles behind the philosophy. lestat worked long and hard on this album, and i think it shows. i think it will sell well for him and 3DV. not because it's commercialized/homogenized for the masses (because i don't think that's the case here), but because it's a greatly varied and wonderfully produced concept album, where each track stands on it's own merit. i wish them only the best with this one.

Ok , a very easy one.....let's say if i had wanted to do an album with the greek gods of the mythology instead of the zodiac signs........do i have to believe in those gods to understand that the track for the god of war must be agressive , and the track for the god of love must be beautiful????? |

Yes I do get your point..the only difference (and it is a significant one) is that nobody believes in the Greek gods but there are a lot of trance people that believe in astrology and those that do not will at least have the curiosity to hear the track named after their sign...so it wouldn't have been so clever (market-wise) to make an album with the Greek gods- would it? Maybe it would have been a good idea to do so 3000 years ago....!!!....
However, although that I do not agree with the zodiac album concept as created (read posts above) I have to say that I much respect the fact that the artist admitted that he does not believe in astrological signs......honesty at least!! |
