Describe your biggest fails while performing live act or dj set 
Mine was several months ago: I played one of my track reversed for ~30 seconds before understood, what exactly is wrong

Haha thats a good one .
My biggest fail is accidently put the synth or perhaps it was fx steam on a tune half second later than the other steams. Turned out to sound very strange, especially in the buildups  .
Also a classic which is very embarrassing is setting the latency too low, and get this nasty 0.1 sec buffer glitch sound every 5-10 minutes.

i saw a clip on youtube of Dr.Hoffman (psy-guy not the real hofmann) getting punched square in the face by a raver during a live set before, but when i posted a link here for a possible explanation for the outburst he silently contacted youtube and requested it to be taken down, and i still have no clue what happened...?

i remember that in many live sets i played were fails, but most the time it wasnt my bad.
let see. there was a outdoor festival, and exactly the final 2 minutes of the live set as i started to tune in the guitar for the final solo. boom generator dead….
another pretty big festival. somewhere in the most powerful part of the third track right 20 seconds before the break - PA. DEAD - Pa came suddenly back in the middle of the break.
Indoor club in switzerland - second floor. first track after the first break PA Dead - 5 minutes till somone came and asked; whats up?….
my biggest fail. i had a turnado in the set. and in one track i might touched a midi wheel and it mixed a stupid loop effect in the track for maybe 25 seconds... the club was so horrible in terms of acoustics.. just realised when somone said: dude it sounds strange like a bad mix.
and a win: i plucked my laptop before starting to play at a transformer which was already installed on the desk, but it did not charge (perhaps of some different voltage) and 3 minutes before the set is finished. i suddenly realised that i will run out of power in probably 2 minutes. so fuck find a free slot. i found one but that was spooky.

What a rush! Seems that Dead PA's is a very common problem, has happened to me just about 8 minutes I started, they never came back and party finished..

well on two different occasions novation nocturn whitout any reason has turned of some of my channels (it wasnt mapped to do that) so when i started to go into another track i went into silence
recently a friend of mine dj before me, and then as im starting i noticed a delay in my intro pads which werent supposed to be there so i dashed to find what delay was on to turn the fucker off... turned all racks off but still a delay... i then proceded to fire up one of my backup cds untill i figure out whats happening, and again the fucking delay then i figgured out my friend left the delay effect turned on on the mixer so again a transition from the cds to the laptop i think i sweated bullets in those 2 mins

One time I played a DJ set and then after I was tripping off some nice acid and one of the orgs asked me to play again because some other guy didn't show up so I got my laptop and thought I'd play a liveset but apparently I was playing the same loop over and over for like 20 minutes (it sounded really interesting to me!).
I stopped playing because I was super fucking high and then some girl came up to the stage and enthusiastically told me it was the best set he ever heard and wouldn't stop hugging me and shaking my hand. |
